Know your purpose (to inform, to persuade, to entertain) B. Know your audience (age, status, interest, education) C. Know your subject (use of sources, experiences, opinion) D. Proofreading (errors)/Editing (removing and adding)/Revising (changing) Definitions ã Proofreading  –  looking and spotting errors. ã Editing  –  removing errors and adding missing words or phrases. ã Revising  –  if editing will not suffice due to the numerous errors, this is needed. Clustering ã Write the topic in the middle. ã Write related words and ideas by connecting them to the middle idea. ã Circle these ideas. ã Connect these ideas. Activity ã Do clustering using the topic “Dream Company to Work for”. ã Show at least 10 circles or related subtopics. 2. Freewriting ã Think of the topic and start writing whatever comes to your mind. ã Set aside grammar rules, capitalization, punctuations, and even sense or meaning. ã If new idea emerges, start writing about it. Writing WH Questions ã Write the topic on top. ã Answer the WHs questions (who, what, where, when, why, and how) about the topic. Homework ã Why do we have to be assigned homework? ã What are the usual homework? ã When is homework assigned? Activity ã Write five WH questions on the topic “End of the World”.   5. Keeping a Journal ã Have a notebook. ã Bring the notebook all the time. ã Write ideas in the notebook as they come. ã Set a specific writing time if possible.
