    BAJAJ HINDUSTHAN SUGAR PLANT& LIMITEDKINAUNI (MEERUT)   Kshitiz  waliaPGDM-ISEC-B  HISTORY    Bajaj Hindusthan Limited (BHL) was incorporated on 23rdNovember, 1931 under the name - The Hindusthan SugarMills Limited on the initiative of Jamnalal Bajaj.  The site selected for the first plant was at Golagokarannath,district Lakhimpur Kheri in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh(UP)  The srcinal capacity of the factory was 400 tons of canecrushed per day (tcd).  Subsequently, this capacity was increased in stages and iscurrently 13,000 (tcd).  In the year 1988, The Hindusthan Sugar Mills Limited wasrenamed as Bajaj Hindusthan Limited.   In an acquisition move, the Company took over thePratappur Sugar and Industries Limited (PSIL), districtDeoria, Eastern UP in December 2005. PSIL wassubsequently renamed as Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar andIndustries Limited (BHSIL) and became a subsidiary of BHL.  BHSIL had an aggregate power generation capacity of 95.8MW. Combined with the power generation capacity of 325MW from BHL, the Company’s total generation capacity is420.8 MW. After meeting its own energy needs, theCompany has a surplus of 90 MW. It supplies a significantpart of this surplus power to the UP state grid.  In December 2010, BHSIL was amalgamated with BHL  INDUSTRY DETAIL  Bajaj Hindustan Sugar & Industries Ltd, the No.1 sugar andethanol manufacturing company in the country.  BHL is India’s largest ethanol producer. It is the pioneer of  India’s fuel ethanol program. BHL is currently producing38 million liters of ethanol in a year.  BHL generates 430 MW of power from the bagasseproduced in its sugar mills. After meeting its own energy needs, BHL has a surplus of 90MW. The Company hasalready begun to supply a significant part of this surpluspower to the UP state grid
