  1. INTRODUCTION Hydraulicpoweris providedbythreeindependentsystems designatedNo.1,No.2andNo.3.Allsystems operateatanominalpressureof3000psi(20,685kPa)andusesynthetichydraulicfluid“Skydrol”. WARNING Skydrol is highly corrosive and can produce severeskinandeyeirritation.Systems 1and2areservicedbygroundservicepanels locatedintheaftequipmentcompartment. System3is servicedbyagroundservicepanellocatedontherightsideof thefuselage,aftofthewingroot.Eachsystemhas twohydraulicpumps;amainpump(A)fornormalpowerandabackuppump(B)forsupplementarypower. SystemNo.1and2mainpumps areenginedrivenpumps (EDP’s). System1EDP (1A)is drivenbytheleftengineandsystem2EDP (2A)isdrivenbytherightengine. System1and2backuppumps (1B and2B)areelectricalACmotorpumps (ACMP’s). Bothhydraulicpumps forsystemNo.3areACMP’s. InsystemNo.3,themainpump(3A)normallyruns continuously,whilethebackuppump(3B)isavailableduringperiods ofhighflowrequirements. Thehydraulicsystems supplypowertooperatetherudder,elevators,ailerons,spoilerons,flightspoilers,groundspoilers,wheelbrakes,nosewheelsteeringandlandinggearextensionandretraction. Therudder,elevators andailerons arepoweredbymorethanonehydraulicsystemtopreventloss ofcriticalflightcontrols.DuringatotalAC powerfailureinflight,pump3B willbeautomaticallypoweredbytheairdrivengenerator(ADG)whenitis deployed. This willprovide hydraulicpressuretothelandinggear,brakes andnosewheelsteeringandalsoprovides backuphydraulicpressuretotheprimaryflightcontrols.
