  Efficiency improvement of carousel chlorination process Chlorination is after process for powder free glove. The Chlorination process gives a glove a softer texture and reduces its thickness. Chlorination process also reduces latex proteins which may cause allergy to the user. But chlorination process can also slightly reduce the shelf life of the glove due to the breakdown of glove material.   Fume Bath  2  gas Flow meter Storage Tank  2   Water circulation    2   Water Tank   Water Inlet Water Outlet  2   Water Inlet    2   Water Outlet   Overflow Glove holders  i In our plant there are 4 CC machines to carry out the chlorination process. When all 4 machines are working, at least 16 lots of gloves are chlorinated per one shift. To increase the effectiveness of cc process we have to consider about the time required to complete this  process. Mainly there are 3 steps in this process they are 1.   Putting gloves on holders. 2.   Gloves go through  2  water tanks 3.   Gloves are stripped from glove holders To reduce the time consumed by chlorination process we have to reduce the time required for each step. Even though the average time required for 1 lot of gloves is 1 hour and 26 minutes some small size gloves required nearly 2 hours to finish the chlorination process and some larger gloves required less than one hour. We observed that this time variance is caused by the size of the glove. There are 8 sizes of glove those which are chlorinated using these machines. The sizes of the gloves are 5.5’   6.0’   6.5’   7.0’   7.5’   8.0’   8.5’   9.0’   We observed that gloves smaller than 7.5’ consumed more time than others.  This is because small gloves are difficult to strip from glove holders. The average size of the gloves is 7.5’. Even though there are different sizes of gloves the dimensions of glove holders in all 4 machines are the same and it has been designed considering average size of the gloves.  ii glove holders have been design such that the lower end of holder has a shorter periphery and upper end has the longest periphery. Therefore, 9.0’size gloves as well as 5.5’ gloves can be hold using the same holders. But when it comes to stripping it is difficult to strip smaller gloves  by stripping roller. so people those who are putting gloves on holders have to strip the gloves from glove holders which consumes extra time .  iii According to the records for gloves production of machine 01 and machine 02 for 2017 June the numbers and percentages of each glove produced are as follows. Gloves that have a problem with stripping step are 7’, 6.5’, 6’ and 5.5’ . the total number and  percentage of gloves that have a problem with stripping step are  Number of glove Stations smaller than size 7.5(number of gloves that are difficult to strip) = 1209 Total number of glove stations = 2684 Percentage of gloves smaller than 7.5 = 45.044% Therefore, it is advisable to design a glove holder of one cc machine that will work only for 5.5 to 7 gloves such that it has smaller glove holders than other 3. By taking smallest glove size as 5.5 and largest glove size as 7.
