Topic: The Mathematics of Duckworth-Lewis In cricket. -How does Duckworth-lewis-stern (DLS) method work? this would incorporate maths and cricket. it would evaluate the mathematical concept used to manipulate the total score after rain. DLS METHOD CALULATION -Dls method is a method in cricket which is used after rain has interrupted the game. -for example, if team A scores 180 runs in 20 overs(120 balls), and before the start of the second team (B)'s batting rain interrupts the game. DLS method calculates the score. if the match has reduced to a 10 over match, the score they will be expected to hit would not be 180/2 but will be calculated by 3 factors. 1.) the target (score team A scored), 2.) how many overs left. 3.) Wickets available. wickets and overs and considered as resources and depending on that and using basic math calculations the score is projected. This is how it is interpreted. the score changes based on wickets and overs which are the resources. to explore this future there are 3 scenarios possible. 1 is that rain interrupts just before second inning starts, 2 that rain interrupts between the match. and rain interrupts 2/3 times between game. Through my IA I can analyse all these situations and understand how maths is applied to predict/project scores in situations of rain. cricket also has my personal connection. I can also use real life match scenarios, where the projected total has been calculated and try it myself to calculate the total. there are several matches where DLS method has been used. -It is said to be that the srcinal D/L model started by assuming that the number of runs that can still be scored (called R), for a given number of overs remaining (called O) and wickets lost (called W), takes the following exponential decay relationship.   they came up with this formula, so i can also understand and analyze this formula and work on how Maths is used in cricket through the DLS method. -But i am not sure about how ill be graded on use of maths here as it has all basic mathematic calculations and not any conplex calculations, and some part of exponents is also included.
