  UNIVERSITY OF SANTO TOMAS - COLLEGE OF NURSING 1 3.4 Data Measure This study utilized questionnaire. This questionnaire was based from the following sources: (1) Willingness to Respond in a Disaster: A Pediatric Nurse Practitioner National Survey by Goodhue, Burke, Ferrer, Dorey, and Upperman, published 2012; (2) Health care workers and disaster preparedness: barriers to and facilitators of willingness to respond by Ogedegbe, Nyirenda, Delmoro, Yamin, and Feldman, published 2012; and (3) Medical-Surgical Nursing Exam 15: Emergency Nursing accessed from (NEW SOURCE, MS book and skills lab) (See  Appendix C). Multiple choice questions was specifically used. A multiple choice test is a test accompanied by several possible answers from which the candidate must try to choose the correct one, Oxford Dictionary (2014).The multiple choice test was used to assess competence. The validity of the questionnaire was ensured by two Medical-Surgical professors who have been teaching disaster nursing management for at least 5 years, and a nurse representative from the Philippine Red Cross who is knowledgeable about the skills being performed in usual earthquake and flood disasters. The reliability was also ensured through the conduction of a pilot test to ten newly graduate nurses who were excluded from the actual study.  UNIVERSITY OF SANTO TOMAS - COLLEGE OF NURSING 2 3.8 Data Analysis Data was encoded and processed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software for research question numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. The following statistical tools were used in the analysis:   Descriptive Analysis:   Mean - It is the sum of the scores divided by the number of scores being summed. It was used to measure the central tendency which helped in determining the difference between variations on both groups’ score. This answered research question numbers 1, 2,3 and 4.   Inferential Analysis:   Paired T-test analysis - is a parametric test to compare two pairs of scores. It was used to determine the significant difference in the pre-tests and post-tests scores of the experimental group. It answered research question number 5.   Independent T-test analysis - is a parametric test used to determine if the means of two independent groups are significantly different from each  UNIVERSITY OF SANTO TOMAS - COLLEGE OF NURSING 3 other. It was used to determine the significant differences in the mean scores of the comparison and experimental groups in terms of their post-tests competency questionnaire. It answered research question number 6.
