  Perspective correlation testing  Shelia Guberman The perspective correlation hypothesis was proposed by B. Haites in 1963 [Haites 1963]. It was tested for 25 years in a number of geological regions in Russia. Here are  presented results for testing the hypothesis in four sites in USA: oil fields – Blue Deep (Texas), Lake des Allemands (Louisiana), one geological cross-section for Greenwood County (Kansas), and one field with unknown location (named X). In all cases the results are encouraging.1.Kansas. Let us start with the correlation between wells G1 and H13. The results feet the model completely as well as the pair M1 – G1 (see Fig.1a and Fig.1b). The mean square deviation of the border's depth from the straight line is 3 feet  in both cases.Fig.1a  Fig.1b Both correlation schemes support the following stratigraphic model. The represented interval (from 500 to 1000 feet depth) of the cross-section consists on two parts (borders 1 – 4 and 5 – 7). Each part was created in stable geotectonic regime with specific and constant rules of sediments layering. The stability of each period is reflected in the strait lines of correlation. The difference in the geotectonic regime is reflected in the different slopes of the correlation lines. It means that a stratigraphic nonconformity exists between the borders 4 and 5.  Fig. 1cThe correlation for wells H13 and J46 (Fig.1c) shows deviation of some markers fromthe line of correlation. If we want to satisfy the model we have to shift the marker 2 in the well J46 12 feet up . We have to check if it is consistent with the log data. In each correlation scheme there are markers that are so well determined that they can not be moved in any well to another depth. But some markers are week and can be shifted to another but appropriate location. In that cross-section (see Fig.2) the markers 3, 4, 5, 6 are well determined. The marker 2 is a week marker and there are no objections to move it in the well J46 12 feet up.From same reason gives the possibility to lift the marker 3 in the well M1 at 10 feet (see the dashed horizontal line 3’, Fig. 1d).  Fig. 1d  Fig. 2 2.Lake des Allemands. There are four wells with log data in the interval 8000 – 11000 feet. The correlation scheme for the wells 11 and 3 is represented in Fif.3.
