Professional Experience Attendance and Reflection Diary ¥  Observations of the learners (what are they interested in, what is challenging?) ¥  Observations of teaching practice (what did you notice about how mentor/s are interacting with learners?) ¥  Professional Learning (what did you learn from participating today?) All students are expected to complete this diary and upload via Moodle at the conclusion of their placement.   The purpose of this diary is two-fold: 1. To validate your teaching experience to ensure you have achieved the required number of days to achieve registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) 2. To promote reflective practice whilst on Professional Experience. In the Daily Reflective Thought column, Pre-Service Teachers may wish to consider the following: ¥  What are some future learnings that you might consider?  Name of school/centre: Military Road Early Learning and Kindergarten PE Block start date   03/09/2018 PE Block finish date   21/09/2018 Total number of days: 15 Course: Master of teaching in Early Years Professional Experience Unit Code: EDF5925   Pre-service Teacher name: Vu Thi Hong Hanh Mentor name: Julie Giang   Day Date Hours Learning Experiences Daily Reflective Thoughts  Professional Experience   Attendance and Reflection Diary " [INSERT OR DELETE FURTHER ROWS AS NEEDED] 1 03/09/18 8.30am-5pm Greet everyone in the centre and introduce myself to my colleagues. Get to know all the students by being the one who started conversation first (ask for their name, age and introduce myself). Try to remember all studentsÕ name. Feel so excited and a little bit nervous to meet everyone, especially my students and my mentor - Julie. Be surprised by the kids, they are quite easy to get along with, which makes me feel so happy. 2 04/09/18 8.30am-5pm Start building relationship with my students. Play with small group of kids. Get to know daily routine of the class. Get to know the centreÕs culture. Realise that building trust with students is vital because they only let you join in their play when you become their friends. Try to participate in all classroom activities. Remember the daily routine. 3 05/09/18 8.30am-5pm Students were on their playground (outside) for the whole day. Help out morning-tea, lunch and afternoon-tea. Play outside with my students and also students from other classes. Students had their art lessons (introducing new instrument: drum) My students really enjoyed their outside activities with many different kinds of play (hide & seek, build castle in the sand pit, race, and cook, etc.) Students got excited for their art lesson (drum). I believe that it is important to organise for students different kinds of art lessons. 4 06/09/18 8.30am-5pm Briefly discussed with Julie about all the requirements I need to meet throughout placement. Students had their musical lesson. Need to spend more time playing with my students. Try to create different kinds of play which can include numeracy and literacy. 5 07/09/18 8.30am-5pm Discuss with Julie about lesson planning and observation of children. Start planning for next week activities. Mentor Signature: Pre-service Teacher signature:
