Responding to a Facebook Philosopher’s Question: Yes Stealing From the Disabled is Wrong…  A Facebook Philosopher Said: “Why do I have to act morally instead of being selfish and acting according to my self-interest? Why steal disabled people is wrong?” I respond: “1. your self encompasses the whole, and so, if you just understand what you actually are, 'self-interest' is fine... 2. stealing from disabled people is, at least generally, wrong because it causes unnecessary suffering. human evolution is marked by our capacity to evolve towards subtler degrees of  virtue that can be understood as 'being in the world while causing the least amount of suffering possible'. causing unnecessary suffering is wrong because virtue is articulation by the resonance of a given manifestation with the Nothing-Infinite Eternal (NIE), suffering (like 'evil', which is really a privation of the good) has no place in the NIE, and so causing unnecessary suffering (i.e. being evil) draws manifestation out of resonance with the NIE and thus away from virtue. all that being said, your question should be more specific/contextual as one could imagine a context in which stealing from a very rich disabled person to feed children might have a net effect of lessening suffering even if it perhaps causes some degree of suffering in the disabled person. a person of great means stealing from a disabled homeless person would be quite a different thing... the natural law is and reflects from the NIE. the natural law reflects through manifestation's natural order of difference and irregularity. the NIE is unitary and regular, but manifestation is not, which belies the potential for static laws like 'don't steal' to mediate between the regularity of the NIE and the irregularity of manifestation. we must mediate between the unity of the eternal and the differences of manifestation--that's our integral role in nature. the principles that we follow are derived from the tension between the NIE and the sickness that has enveloped manifestation: we must not cause unnecessary suffering because suffering has no place in the NIE; we must not be unnecessarily 'evil' (deprived of goodness) because 'evil' has no place in the eternal; we must not make ugliness through hierarchical violence because ugliness has no place in the NIE; we must not destroy the sacred or allow the sacred to be destroyed because destruction of the sacred has no place in the eternal. we derive these precepts from the tension between the NIE and the sickness that besets manifestation. but abstracted precepts are not enough. we must become intimate with the contexts we inhabit through embodiment so as to act as the vessel of mediation between nothing-infinite-eternal-unity and finite-difference. we must be like butcher khing who, through 10,000 hours of carving oxen, attained the capacity to transcend the dimensional limitations of the linear-rational mind to effortlessly, stresslessly, fearlessly, etc. (wu-wei) mediate between the unity of the nothing-infinite-eternal-form reflected in the ox and the difference and irregularity of the form takes on in reflecting through manifestation's natural order of difference and irregularity.”  Luke R.
