The Making of a Book: Traditional Games in West Java A project report submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirement for completing Diploma III Programme of English Studies By Arief Budiawan Sugiri NIM Jurusan Bahasa Inggris Politeknik Negeri Bandung 2012 Abstract This final project entitled The Making of a Book: Traditional Games in West Java. The project was done in order to provide the information about Traditional Game in West Java and to preserve traditional games as one of culture heritage in Indonesia. The games in the book were based on the festivals held in The methods of production were used in this project such as collecting information and data, making content, writing the book, revising and editing, design of layout and cover the book, and printing and binding the book. The result of this project is a book entitled Traditional Games in West Java: educative, enjoyable, and simple. There are tens traditional games such as Kelom Batok, Jajangkungan, Bedil Jepret, Sondah, Sorodot Gaplok, Gasing, Rorodaan, Perepet Jengkol, Sumpit, and Gatrik. The information about traditional game which are provided in the book consist of description of game, meaning of game, media of game and the way of both making media of game and playing the game. To sum up, the product is book about which contains game and culture. The book is written in English with important information such as meaning and benefit of game as cultural value. Making content and finding information and data are important lesson in this project. It is therefore recommended that mastering basic of making a good book or writing skill and the best way to find information and data are important to produce better project. This final project is aimed to fulfill the requirement for completing my study in English Department of Politeknik Negeri Bandung. During the process of doing this project, I have got a lot of help and motivation from people. Therefore, it is a great pleasure for me to acknowledge the assistance and contributions of many individuals during doing this project so that I can finish this project: 1. Staff of Dinas Pariwisata dan Kebudayaan Provinsi Jawa Barat (Department of Tourism and Culture of West Java province), who have allowed me to do interviewing to find the information about traditional games in West Java. 2. The Hong community, especially for Mr. M. Zaini Alif, Mrs. Mia Rosmiaty, and Mr.Cecep Imansyah, who have given the opportunity to get a lot of information about traditional game and for sparing their time. 3. My brother and his friends, especially Galih, Ebi, Onong, Putri and those who cannot be mentioned one by one.thank you for willingness as object picture and observation to play those games in completing the book. 4. Mr. Andil and Mr. Wajiran, who have helped and advised me in making media of those games. 5. Candra Nugroho who was willing to help me in taking the picture. 6. Mrs. Iis Sulyaningsih, Dra, M.Pd., as my supervisor who has guided me patiently and gives me assistance, ideas, and feedbacks during the process in doing this project.
