The event holds particular gravitas this year as we launch our new campaign focus and work closely with Women’s Aid to implement this.8 All Party Parliamentary Group Representation in parliament is essential to White Ribbon’s reach, longevity and fairness as a charity. It means we can affect change both within parliament itself, and have an impact on constituencies too. White Ribbon have joined forces with SoRM in Bradord to assist in making this happen. With a new design, new team and a new logo. Isn't that exciting? Well, yes, obviously. This month has been full of surprises both in the HQ and with our accreditations and ambassadors. With our new music initiative hotting up, and our presence in parliament looking better than ever, 2017 is clearly our year. These pages may seem a little sparse for this issue, and that's because we're looking to fill forthcoming issues with ambassador content. We're talking, interviews, articles, WR event reviews, etc.. Having worked closely with Trade Unions throughout our campaign, White Ribbon UK will be in attendance, making connections and spreading our message. This year is especially important campaign-wise as wewill be highlighting the work we do with Women's Aid, and the work they are doing to reduce cuts to womens' services. We are also happy to announce that Richard Murgatroyd has been appointed as Campaign Manager for White Ribbon UK's Trade Union affiliations. We hope you look forward to working with Richard on our continued relationship with the Trade Unions.7WHITE RIBBON NEWSLETTERALL PARTY PARLIAMENTARY GROUPWhite Ribbon are delighted to announce the reconvention of our All Party Parliamentary Group, with Scottish Nationalist Party MP, Gavin Newlands appointed as chair. The APPG is made up of members of the houses of Commns and Lords. The first meeting will be heldafter the summer break with the primary focus being on education. Througout the year the APPG will continue the great work they do within UK Parliament, engaging with politicians on key issues relevant to the White Ribbon campaign, both within parliament and in the wider world.8WHITE RIBBON NEWSLETTERSoRM's White Ribbon Wall, showcasing a number of our posters and flyersWHITE RIBBON MUSIC CAMPAIGNBradford’s School of Rock and Media (SoRM) provided staging for the Hope Not Hate music event last month. Hope Not Hate seeks to challenge and defeat the politics of hate and extremism within local communities. (Chief Executive of Hope Not Hate, Kersten England pictured middle left).Our music campaign, led by School of Rock and Media (SoRM) in Bradford, is currently in its fifth month of operation and is doing great things on the festival circuit. Having put on the White Ribbon Festival for us last year, SoRM have continued their pro-active work with White Ribbon most recently by campaigning at Nice 'N' Sleazy Festival in may, and Bradford Family Day in Centenary Square; gaining pledges, selling awareness raising materials, and garnering mass interest at the event.The White Ribbon Music Campaign is already shaping up to have a very bright future, with stalls secured for White Ribbon at Bingley Music Live and Hard Drive Festival in Leicester; not to mention many more things in the pipeline.9WHITE RIBBON NEWSLETTERLEICESTER CRICKET CLUB Chief Executive Wasim Khan M.B.E.JEREMY CORBYN, leader of the Labour Party has been wearing his white ribbon recently, along with other party members.Davey the Dog celebrating with the other mascots. 10WHITE RIBBON NEWSLETTERALL OUT - Charity Cricket Match Sunday 17th September sees a charity cricket match presented by White Ribbon UK and National Asian Cricket Council, in partnership with Leicestershire County Cricket Club. Chief Executive for the club, Wasim Khan, is anambassador for White Ribbon and has supported us in national media.Labour Party Conference White Ribbon will once again be returning to the Labour Party Conference this year, repeating lobby of parliamentarians and councillors as we did last year. The conference will take place on the weekend of Sunday 24th September.Jo Cox Memorial Fun Run The Jo Cox Memorial Fun run held in Batley in July, featured a number of mascots from various charities and institutions. Of course that meant our trusty mascot, Davey the Dog made an appearance, coming second in the race. The family of Jo Cox are strong supporters of the work of White Ribbon Campaign.11Come along to the Charity Cricket Match in Leicester.
