  Civilization and Culture in Islam MEANING AND DEFINITIONS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION FUNDAMENTALS OF ISLAMIC CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION CHARACTERISTICS IF ISLAMIC CIVILIZATION  Culture and Civilization  Culture  (Latin: cultura , meaning . „ cultivation ‟)  .Culture is the characteristics of a people: the sum total of ways of living built up by a group of human beings, transmitted from one generation to another from ’  The ideas, customs, literature, lifestyle, food, painting and sculpture, theater and film.language, cuisine,dresses, social habits, music and arts .‟      Civilization, or civilisation comes from the Latin word civis , meaning someone who lives in a town. When people are called civilised they have organised into large well-organized groups like towns, not in small tribes or family groups. Such a large well organized group is called a civilization.  The Oxford English Dictionary defines civilization as the action or process of civilizing or of being civilized; a developed or advanced state of human society. Broadly we can say that civilization is “ An advanced state of intellectual, cultural, and material development in human society, marked by progress in the arts and sciences, an advanced state of moral conduct, the extensive use of record-keeping, including writing, and the appearance of complex political and social institutions ”.    Difference between culture and civilization:  A civilization is a society in an advanced state of social development (e.g., with complex legal and political and religious organizations). In short, civilization is and advance state of human society --- the sum of cultures, science, industry, and government. So, you can have several cultures in one civilization for example in Islamic civilization there are many differet cultures at the same time time like Pakistani culture egytian culture….and within these cultures there are many others like In Pakistan punjbi culture sindhi culture and so on….    So a civilization is more extensive than culture….    Islamic culture and civilization: The early forms of Muslim culture were predominantly Arab. With the rapid expansion of the Islamic empires, Muslim culture has influenced and assimilated much from the Persian, Bangladeshi, Turkish, Pakistani, Mongol, Chinese, Indian, Malay, Somali, Berber, Egyptian, Indonesian, Filipino, Greek-Roman Byzantine, Spanish, and Western
