  • 1. IDEO Human Centered Design o main focus is to be able to connect with people being served o desirability - desired by people; feasibility - technically & organizationally; viability - financially o hear phase  identify design challenge  recognize existing knowledge  research personal experience with customers expert mentorship explore similar scenarios in the past o create phase  combination of participatory co-design and empathic design  identify patterns and themes  use these patterns to find potential opportunity areas  brainstorm solutions  prototype and discuss desirable solutions o deliver phase  analyze financial viability  analyze required capabilities  narrow down final solutions for implementation  long-term: evaluate outcomes and improve on solutions Frog Collective Action o clarify the goal  decide who and what kind of impact  define problem  define goals and timeline o build the group  learn about each others' skills  gather previous knowledge and find out what is yet to research  identify mentorship o seek new understanding  better understand the problems at hand  put information into context by interacting with customers  identify deeper patterns o imagine more ideas  brainstorm as many ideas as possible  alter and combine various ideas to generate better ideas  determine which solutions are most appropriate o make something real
  • 2.  analyze how the final solutions will impact the customers  create and test prototypes o plan for action  define a task list and timeline  divide and conquer Stanford Design Thinking Process o understand  research and learn as much as possible about the problem at hand o observe  learn about the culture of the customers o define  identify a comprehensive challenge statement o ideate  brainstorm as many solutions as possible o prototype  convey the ideas in a physical manner that is quick and easy o test  implement designs and analyze outcomes o iterative process Duke Social Entrepreneurship Process o generating promising ideas  personal experience  social needs  social assets  change o developing promising ideas into attractive opportunities  social impact theory  business model operating model resources strategy  operating environment markets industry structure political environment culture
  • 3. OUR DESIGN PROCESS o desirability - desired by people; feasibility - technically & organizationally; viability - financially o define and learn  research details and context of problem  define challenge statement, goals, and timeline  learn about each others' skills throughout this process as well as the timeline of the entire project in order to efficiently assign tasks o innovate and collaborate  brainstorm as many ideas as possible  collaborate to design valid solutions  analyze and narrow down ideas based on desirability, feasibility, and viability  create and discuss prototypes of top ideas o down-select and implement  choose top ideas after discussion  analyze financial viability and required capabilities  implement solution with operating model and resources strategy based on operating environment  examine outcomes and improve solution
