EFFECT OF BANANA AND WATERLILY FIBERS TO FLEXURAL STRENGTH OF WASTE PAPER CEILING BOARD An Investigatory Project Presented to THE INVESTIGATORY PROJECT PANEL 2017 REGIONAL SCIENCE AND MATH FAIR Calbayog, Eastern Samar In Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements for the Course Research II by Glaiza A. Metran John Raphael Camba Chester Brian R. Lamayo Granja-Kalinawan National High School Jaro, Leyte December 2017    ABSTRACT This Investigatory Project sought to find out if there are significant differences on flexural strength of waste paper ceiling board with banana fiber, water lily fiber, and mixed banana and water lily fibers compared to those without additives. The project used the method used in the study of Obam, et al., (2012) entitled Properties of Saw-dust, Paper, and Starch Composite Ceiling Board. The ceiling boards were made in 1:1:2.65 ratios of waste paper, styrofoam with gasoline as binder, and additives (banana and water lily fibers). Two-Way ANOVA was used to answer the research problems. The results showed that there were no significant differences between waste paper ceiling boards with and without additives. The waste paper ceiling boards with additives were the same in terms of flexural strength of those without any additives. Thus, implying that those with additives are as durable of those without additives.    TABLE OF CONTENTS Title Page……………………………………………………………………………………i    Abstract……………………………………………………………………………………...ii   Table of Contents……………………………………………………………………….....iii  Chapter 1 The Problem: Rationale and Background Backgro und and Rationale……………………………………………..……........1  Significa nce of the Study……………………………………………………..…....3  Statement of t he Problem………………………………....... ...............................3 Re search Hypothesis…………………………………………………………...….3  Objectives of the Study.....................................................................................4 Theoretical Framework.....................................................................................4 Conceptual Framework.....................................................................................5 Scope and Limitation........................................................................................5 Definition of Terms............................................................................................6 Chapter 2 Review of Related Literature.......................................................................7 Chapter 3 Methodology Research Design............................................................................................10 Variables of the Study.....................................................................................10 Preparation of Ceiling Boards.........................................................................10 Data Collection and Statistical Approach........................................................11    Chapter 4 Data Processing and Analysis..................................................................13 Chapter 5 Summary, Findings, Conclusions, and Recommendations Summary and Findings...................................................................................15 Conclusions....................................................................................................15 Recommendations..........................................................................................15 References................................................................................................................17 Appendixes................................................................................................................19    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS The researchers would like to express its sincerest gratitude to God for all was made in His Divine Prominence.
