Checked and Approved by ______________________ ( DR FARRAH AINI DAHALAN) Project Supervisor School of Environmental Engineering University Malaysia Perlis JUN 2013   iii PENGOLAHAN KEBERKESANAN SARUNG TANGAN GETAH KEPADA PRODUK MESRA ALAM ABSTRAK Perkembangan permintaan industri getah dan permintaan pasaran yang tinggi telah mewujudkan gegala pembuangan hasil getah yang terbuang dari industri di tapak pelupusan sampah. Kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti keberkesanan sarung tangan terbuang daripada kilang untuk diolah sebagai produk mesra alam dan membandingkannya dengan produk biasa yang sedia ada. Sifat getah getah asli yang berupaya untuk meregang mampu menyumbang kebolehkerjaan konkrit. Sarung tangan getah yang telah dihancurkan dan ditambah ke dalam kiub konkrit dan batu bata simen untuk mengantikan batu agregat halus supaya dapat menyerupai fungsi asas agregat halus. Penyelidikan ini juga adalah untuk mengenal pasti kesesuaian menggunakan sarung tangan getah terbuang menggantikan agregat halus konvensional sebagai bahan binaan. Apabila sarung tangan getah terbuang dibandingkan dengan agregat halus konvensional, ia mempunyai nilai sebagai produk mesra alam. Ianya boleh mengurangkan kesan kemusnahan alam sekitar setara dengan produk konvensional dan boleh mengurangkan kos bahan binaan. Didalam kajian ini, sarung tangan terbuang diadunkan ke dalam campuran getah  –   konkrit dan getah  –   bata simen pada variasi sampel (0, 1, 3, 5, 7 dan 10%) dan diuji dan dianalisi dengan teliti.   iv CONVERSION OF DEFECTED RUBBER GLOVE INTO ECO-FRIENDLY PRODUCT ASBTRACT The growth of the rubber industry and high market demand has created massive disposal of rubber waste. This study is to identify the effectiveness of rubber glove to be converted into eco-friendly product. This study compares the characteristic between eco-friendly products with conventional product. The characteristic of natural rubber in terms of stretch ability is highly significant in contributing to the workability of rubber-based concrete. Rubber gloves are shredded and added into concrete cubes and brick composition in order to mimic the function of the conventional fine aggregate. This study also investigated the suitability of using wasted rubber glove shredder to replace the conventional fine aggregates as construction material. Rubber glove waste when compared with the conventional fine aggregate, it has value as eco-friendly product.
