Refer to “What you need” b elow foreligibility criteria.These specialised licence courses are not only designed todevelop vital driving skills and knowledge but also includecritical Transport and Logistics Certificate I-III units of - TLID107C  –  Shift Materials Safely Using Manual Handling Methods TLIB407C  –  Carry Out Vehicle Inspection TLIG107C  –  Work Effectively With Others TLIE307C  –  Participate In Basic Workplace Communication TLIA107C  –  Secure Cargo    TLIC207C  –  Drive Light Rigid Vehicle TLIC307C  –  Drive Medium Rigid Vehicle TLIC407D  –  Drive Heavy Rigid Vehicle   After successfully completing these units, a Statement of  Attainment will be issued by NMIT.Conducted over three days (approximately 8½ hours perday) with a maximum client/trainer ratio of 3:1.Highly qualified nationally accredited trainers deliver thisinnovative & powerful training course in a motivational & educational environment. 2  – WHAT YOU NEED 1.   To be eligible for funding, you must be a permanentresident of Australia.2.   If you have previously completed a Certificate III levelcourse (or above) anywhere within Australia you are NOT  eligible for funding. This criteria applies irrespective of thenature of the course previously completed.3.    A current Victorian Driver‟s Licence; held for a minimum of 24 months; a secondary form of ID is also required; please refer to Armstrong‟s Terms & Conditions for details.  4.    All clients must be competent in the operation of a manualvehicle; and have obtained your licence in a manualvehicle.5.   Ob tain a Victorian Bus and Truck Driver‟s Handbook and study before the course.6.   Wear appropriate clothing, including fully enclosed shoes,either boots or runners. 3  – WHAT YOU GET       Vehicle familiarisation & inspection prior tooperation;    Critical skills in vehicle control, gear changing &    manoeuvring, including cornering techniques & kerbside stops;    Safe driving techniques on hazard identification & approach;     Advanced observation skills & mirror use toenhance vehicle safety;    General road craft application including speed & lane selection to improve safety levels;    Extensive reference & relevance of theory to heavyrigid operation;    Critical reversing skills;    Practical application of „test exercises‟ to help enhance the on-road assessment;    Practical skills relating to safely securing cargoTraining is conducted prior to any testing, maximisingthe training benefits, aiding in the successfulcompletion of the licence course.  Armstrong‟s VicRoads accreditation means at the successful completion of the licence testing you willreceive a Certificate of Competence 2/3 enabling VicRoads to issue your Heavy Rigid - SynchromeshLicence. 4  – YOUR INVESTMENT 4   Price of Funded Course (with Health Care Card) - $485Price of Funded Course (No Health Care Card) - $775   1 To be eligible, candidates must not have completed any Certificate III levelcourse (or above) anywhere within Australia. 2 The Certificate of Competence is valid for 12 months; after which anotherlicence course will need to be completed if not transferred into a Licencebeforehand. 3 The Certificate of Competence is NOT a Licence & must be transferred into aLicence at VicRoads prior to driving a Heavy Rigid Vehicle. 4  All pricing is subject to change without notice. For a full copy of Armstrong‟s policies and procedures, please download a c opy of the Student Handbook from our website or ask our customer service staff for one. COURSE REQUIREMENTS  All courses require a minimum level of English language proficiency (based on Australia‟s minimum literacy standard) and gene ral health and fitness to complete. It is the client‟s responsibility to ensure they meet these requirements prior to participating in any course. Failure to do so may mea n that the client is NOT ABLE TO PARTICIPATE INTHE COURSE & NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN. MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL VICROADS COURSES  You must notify Armstrong‟s if you are taking any medication or if you suffer from, or have ever suffered from an eyesight or hearing defect, dizziness, blackouts, bloodpressure problems, epilepsy, diabetes, psychiatric or mental illness or any medical condition or other disability. If you have a medical condition you will require a clearance from VicRoads. Please contact Armstrong‟s so that the necessary medical report form can be sent to you. You will need to take this to your doctor to complete and then return to Armstrong‟s via mail or fax 14 days prior to the course commencement. Failure to obtain the necessary medical clear ances prior to commencing a course will resultin YOU NOT BEING ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COURSE & NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN. LICENCE REQUIREMENTS To undertake any Heavy Vehicle course you must hold a current Victorian Driver‟s Licence and not be disqualified from driving or have a cancelled or suspended licence. Youmust check the licence requirements for your course; the requirements for each course are detailed on course Quick Facts or alternatively check with our customer servicestaff or website. You must bring your licence and a secondary ID with you on the day of the course to be able to participate. Acceptable forms of secondary ID include aBank Debit/Credit card, Medicare Card or Centrelink Health Care Card. If a licence is suspended at any time, then the time of the suspension is not counted as part of theactual licence time required. If you arrive at a course with a cancelled or suspended licence or do not meet the VicRoads licence requirements YOU WILLNOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY COURSE & NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN. Overseas Licences -    If you have a valid overseas licence, you must attend a VicRoads office prior to booking your course to determine your current licence type and eligibility within Australia. HANDBOOKS For any client wanting to undertake any Heavy Vehicle course for the first time, it is vital you obtain a copy and read the  VicRoads publication “  Victorian Bus and Truck Drivers Handbook  ” as it contains the information that is needed to complete the written exam in the course. All Handbooks can be purchased from Armstrong‟s office, your local newsagency, VicRoads or download from the VicRoads website. CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS   For all Heavy Vehicle Courses, it is mandatory that the following clothing requirements are adhered to  –   Solid shoes (work boots or runners are suitable, preferably NOT steel capped boots)  DRUGS & ALCOHOL I t is essential that all clients arrive for their course at Armstrong‟s drug and alcohol free. If drugs and/or alcohol consump tion is suspected or detected, the client will not bepermitted to participate in the course. NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN for any client removed from a course due to drugs and/or alcohol. RE-ASSESSMENT & APPEALS The assessment process involves two components  – a written theory/knowledge test and a practical skills test. The practical skills test involves an off-road component andan on-road driving component. If the written theory/knowledge test is not completed satisfactorily, a second attempt will be provided, free of charge. If the practical skillstest is not completed satisfactorily, further training before re-testing may be recommended and will incur a fee. For second and subsequent on-road tests, fees apply. Forfurther details regarding re-test fees, contact our admin office on (03) 9464 6464. Re-testing times are subject to availability and must be booked in advance. Should youwish to appeal any assessment outcomes, you must first discuss the matter with your trainer. If the matter cannot be satisfactorily resolved, you may lodge an Assessment Appeal Notification. Further details regarding assessment appeals can be found in our Student Handbook available on our website or via our admin office. REFUND POLICY     Full course fees are payable no less than 14 days prior to the commencement of the course. It is the client‟s responsibility to ensure that the fees are paid on time. A  rmstrong‟s may contact you to remind you that fees are due, however, this is a courtesy and not a requirement on our part.      If a client fails to pay the course fees in time, 14 days prior to the course starting date, their place on the course will be cancelled.     As all clients are informed prior to the commencement of any course about the course requirements, licensing requirements and medical requirements, if a clientprovides false or misleading information regarding their eligibility to participate then they will be removed from the course and no refund will be given.    For clients who have paid and wish to cancel with more than 7 days notice prior to the starting date of the course, a full refund will be given.    For clients who have paid and wish to cancel with less than 7 days notice from the starting date of the course, a 50% refund will be given.    For clients who have paid and wish to transfer to another available comparable course with more than 7 days notice prior to the starting date of the course, no extracharge will be payable.    For clients who have paid and wish to transfer to an available comparable course with less than 7 days notice from the starting date of the course, a 50% refund will begiven and the full fee for the new course will be applicable.    Client‟s who fail to attend any course or cancels the course on the start day of the course, no refund will be given.      It is the responsibility of all clients to check the course start times and ensure they arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the course. In the interest of client safety andfairness to other clients, if a client arrives for a course more than 30 minutes after the starting time, without prior consent, they will not be permitted to participate andno refund will be given.     Armstrong‟s res erves the right to remove any client from a course, with no refund, who disobey direct instructions from the trainer, behave in a manner that is considered disruptive or endangers Armstrong‟s trainers, other students or themselves.       Any client requesting a refund due to extraordinary circumstances must make the request in writing and address the request to the Operations Manager. Allrequests will be responded to in writing and if necessary after a full investigation, any refund will be paid by cheque.    For c lient‟s on a course with a Health Care Card discount that fail to present a current and/or valid Health Care Card on the firs t day of the course, the differencebetween the fully priced course fee and the HCC course fee will be payable before the course commences.    Clients on courses that are fully or partially funded will be liable to pay the full course fees if they cancel or withdraw from the course with less than 7 days notice or areremoved from the course for any reason. PRIVACY    Personal information is collected from clients in order to manage and administer their course enrolment. Personal information including personal details, licence informationand assessment results will be forwarded to VicRoads, WorkSafe or training and assessment partners, as appropriate.
