Agile is a mindset; it is a way of being and working on a small amount (increment) in a small time block (iteration). Instead of in-depth planning at the beginning of the project, Agile methodologies are open to changing requirements over time and encourages constant feedback from the end users. Cross-functional teams work on iterations of a product over a period of time, and this work is organised into a backlog that is prioritised based on business or customer value. The goal of each iteration is to produce a working product. In Agile methodologies, leadership encourages teamwork, accountability, and face-to-face communication. Business stakeholders and developers must work together to align the product with customer needs and company goals.THE COMMON THEMES IN AGILE:Minimising documentation tasks to invest more time in activityInvolving the end user in the development processCommunicating extensivelyManaging a set workload for a cycle (“sprints”)WHY AGILE? Each organisation approaches Agile in a slightly unique way, and the differences arise in the details.Training You Can Trust+46 (0)8-506 668 00 • LEARNINGTREE.SE3INTRODUCTION (CONTINUED) METHODOLOGY VS. FRAMEWORK: • METHODOLOGY — a set of principles, tools, and practices which can be used to guide processes to achieve a particular goal. • FRAMEWORK — a loose but incomplete structure which leaves room for other practices and tools to be included, but provides much of the process requiredAGILE TOOLS Once you have an understanding of the principles of Agile, you may want to take advantage of the tools that have become most popular in facilitating the iterative process. This guide helps you understand some of the options you have available for that as well. This guide is intended to help you navigate the sea of Agile certification and training possibilities available, and to help you to make an educated determination on which options would best fit your needs — but the guide should not take the place of a one-on-one consultation to discuss your specific goals and challenges surrounding Agile. We invite you to reach out to Learning Tree’s Training Advisors to discuss your Agile projects and goals so that we can better assist you in finding the Agile solution that’s right for you and your team.CONTACT LEARNING TREE AT: LEARNINGTREE.SE/CONTACT-USTHE RIGHT AGILE FOUNDATION THE FOCUS IS DIFFERENT WITH EACH OF THE AGILE ORGANISATIONS. ICAgile’s goal is to help organisations realise the power of agility by focusing on the transformation of people, not just processes. ICAgile does this by providing learning journeys that equip people with an Agile mindset as a foundation, then guide them along a path towards mastery in their chosen discipline. ICAgile’s approach is not limited to the boundaries created by a single Agile methodology. This empowers professionals to leverage the roadmap to meet their learning goals and encourages organisations to customise their Agile processes and practices in a contextually relevant manner. THE ROLE-BASED LEARNING PATHWAYS MAKE IT VERY CLEAR FOR YOU TO FOLLOW A LEARNING JOURNEY.LEARN MORE AT: LEARNINGTREE.SE/ICAGILETraining You Can Trust+46 (0)8-506 668 00 • LEARNINGTREE.SE5AGILE TRAINING BY CERTIFICATION (CONTINUED) SCRUM ALLIANCE Scrum is the most popular framework used in Agile environments, and is designed to help Scrum Teams manage complex projects. Scrum is recognised for its success on software development projects, but it works well for any complex, innovative scope of work. The Scrum framework consists of Scrum Teams and their associated roles, events, artefacts, and rules. Each component within the framework serves a specific purpose and is essential to Scrum’s success and usage. THE SCRUM ALLIANCE OFFERS SEVERAL POPULAR CERTIFICATIONS TO HELP INDIVIDUALS FULFILL THE NECESSARY ROLES OF THE SCRUM TEAM, INCLUDING:CERTIFIED SCRUM MASTER® (CSM)CERTIFIED SCRUM PRODUCT OWNER® (CSPO)CERTIFIED SCRUM DEVELOPER® (CSD)CERTIFIED SCRUM PROFESSIONAL® (CSP)LEARN MORE AT: LEARNINGTREE.CO.UK/SCRUM LEAN KANBAN UNIVERSITY Lean Kanban University (LKU) is a programme run by the champions of the Kanban method, a popular methodology for organising and managing workflows and processes. KANBAN IS BASED ON THREE BASIC PRINCIPLES:Visualise what you do today (workflow) Seeing all the items in context of each other can be very informative.Limit the amount of Work In Progress (WIP) This helps balance the flow-based approach so teams don’t start and commit to too much work at once.Enhance workflow When something is finished, the next highest thing from the backlog is pulled into play.Kanban promotes continuous collaboration and encourages active, ongoing learning and improving by defining the best possible team workflow. Together, the three principles reinforce each other and give the Kanban Method a unique strength as a system of management — a simple, single, unifying system for operational management amidst complex, fast-moving, and unpredictable environments. LKU offers the Team Kanban Practitioner (TKP) Certificate and the Kanban Management Professional (KMP) certificate. LKU Kanban certifications do not require any examination; you just need to attend accredited courses.LEARN MORE AT: LEARNINGTREE.SE/LKU6NAVIGATING AGILE TRAINING & CERTIFICATION: A GUIDE BY LEARNING TREETraining You Can TrustAGILE TRAINING BY CERTIFICATION (CONTINUED) PROJECT MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE® The PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP®) is PMI’s fastest growing certification.
