Discuss the philosophical foundations of curriculum Let me define first what is philosophy and curriculum? Philosophy is a systematic and logical explanation of the nature, existence, purposes and relationship of things including human beings in the universe. Curriculum includes all of the experiences a student has in school. Defined narrowly, curriculum is a plan or set of outcomes - Therefore; we will define curriculum here as the planned sequence of what students are to learn, how students acquire that learning, and students learning is verified  As an insight to philosophical foundations of curriculum; We should be aware of the fact that development and awareness of a personal philosophy of education is a crucial professional responsibility. Further, if there are any other revisions about philosophies of education we should be open to new ideas from old and new curriculum and should serve as a guiding tool for us to follow in making decisions about curriculum. If we do not understand the philosophy of education it is as if we tend to confused to our plans in making curriculum. Therefore; we teachers; educators let us put in mind that philosophy provide us the framework in implementing and a starting point for a decision making in planning a curriculum.  2. In your own perspective point of view, what is the significance of curriculum to education? The significance of curriculum to education is that it is a tool used by the schools to address the student’s needs to keep him/her attune to its society. A student who graduated without proper curriculum his/her knowledge may be outdated or will not be of help to the existing community. Meaning curriculum is a path/way of attaining its goals for education. 3. Craft your own semi detailed lesson plan SEMI DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE-GRADE 5 Demonstrator: Phellie joy C. Amomonpon Date: January 11, 2019 I. OBJECTIVES : At the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to: 1. Learn and understand the term habitat 2. Identify animals that live on land, on water and both land and water 3. Give examples of animals that live on land, water and both on land and water. 4. Explain ways on how to show kindness on animals II. SUBJECT MATTER :” Habitat of Animals”    REFERENCE : Curriculum for Grade 5 Pupils MATERIALS : crayons; Animal around us video, pictures, 1 pc construction paper, magazines III. PROCEDURE: A. Review: Explain the Term Habitat and talk about many kinds of animals Let the pupils recall the sounds of different animals  Allow students time to work on their drawings Display the habitat drawings in the classroom so students have a visual reminder of the features of the forest, desert, wetlands, and grasslands B. Motivation: Show pictures of different animals in different habitats Show videos of different animals with sounds and different habitats C. Presentation: Today we are going to find out what animals live on land, on water and both on land and water D. Discussion:    What is the term “habitat” mean?  What are the different habitats of animals? Have them sort animals into the habitats they belong Have students compare with another student or group. Discuss differences What will happen if animals will not be feed? E. Generalization: What animals live on Land? What animals live on both Land and Water? What animals live on Water? F. Application Group Activity Collect variety of magazines that depict different types of environments where animals live, such as jungle, rainforest, and desert. Tell the children that they will learn about places, or habitats, where animals live.  Assist each group and let the children share the specific animal habitat information that they learned from the video or magazine    Optional Activity List of Habitats Drawings Clip a picture of animal on the back of students. The student turns around so the other students can look at it. Then the student asks question to find out what animals is, Talkas a group first about the kinds of questions ask: What it eats? Where it lives? What it looks like? Include size, color, etc. IV. EVALUATION Directions : Write L  if the animals live on Land,  W  if the animals live on water and LW  if the animals live s on both land and water ------------------- --------------------- ------------------- -------------------- V.
