Autoclave- Its type and key point to consider while choosing it An autoclave is pressurized lab equipment; use to kill bacteria, fungi, spore forms, viruses and any agent that can transmit bacteria to liquids and equipment in use. Apart from that, it is used to sterilize medical, beautician and other equipment such as tattooing and piercing paraphernalia. Working principle of Autoclave: Autoclave works on the principle of mechanical energy. When, pressure inside the close vessel increases, then temperature of the water also increases. After 100 degree temperature, water converts into vapor. Steam condensed to water and this is where latent heat (Q = ML) comes in to contact with the cooler surface and machine starts working. Types of Autoclave: A leading Autoclave supplier deal in several types of autoclave that we can find on the market. However, in this article we are going to explain each type. Positive pressure displacement- This type is the improvement of downward displacement type. The steam is created within a second in separate unit (steam generator). The steam is released to the sterilization chamber to start the sterilization progress. Negative Pressure Displacement- This type is one of the most recommended types of autoclave sterilizer. It is very accurate and it can achieve high sterility assurance level. The disappointing fact is that sometimes the system is too large and too expensive. Downward Displacement- This unit is also called as the gravity displacement autoclave. This unit heats water that becomes steam. The steam then forces the air in the chamber to go through the drain hole. The drain hole is closed once the temperature is sufficient for the serialization process to begin. Triple Vacuum Displacement - This type is similar to the negative pressure displacement type. This unit is named "triple vacuum" because there are three process of removing the air and the steam's pulse. This unit is perfect to sterile any kind of instruments. Type "N" or type "B" - There are two classifications of autoclaves. You can find type "N" or type "B". Type "N" does not use vacuum to remove air from the chamber. Contrary, type "B" uses vacuum pump in operation. Key points to consider while choosing Autoclave: Always trust on leading and prestigious laboratory equipment manufacturers when you are going to purchase the equipments. Make sure that all parts are functioning properly. Make sure that there is sufficient space on chamber volume and also ensure that exterior architecture is fine.
