NETGEAR DGN2200 Default PasswordDGN2200 Default Password & Other Default Login InfoLike several other NETGEAR routers, the DGN2200 uses password as the default password. Like most passwords, this one is case sensitive. In the case of this particular NETGEAR router, the default username admin is also case sensitive. The default IP address for the NETGEAR DGN2200v1 and v4 is 192.168.0.1, but the DGN2200v3 uses 192.168.1.1.The v# appended to this router's name represent one of three hardware versions inwhich it's available. Although the IP address isn't the same for all three, they doshare the same default username and password. If the DGN2200 Default Password Doesn't WorkIf the default password isn't working for your DGN2200 router, you or another user likely changed it to something else for security's sake. Using a complex password is essential, but this also means it's difficult to remember.Fortunately, getting the default password to work again so you can access your router's settings is easy: Simply reset the DGN2200 to its factory default settings. This will restore any custom settings back to their defaults, including the username and password.Resetting and restarting don't mean the same thing. The steps below describe how toreset the router, which completely removes and reinstalls software and defaults; simply restarting the router would merely start a new session with the existing defaults. Here's how to reset your DGN2200 router:Make sure the router is plugged in and powered on.Flip the router over on its top so you have access to the bottom. With something small and sharp like a paperclip or pin, press and hold the Restore Factory Defaults button for seven to 10 seconds. The Power light will blink red three times after it's released and then turn green as the router resets.Resetting the DGN2200Wait 15 seconds or so to be sure that the router is actually done resetting, and then unplug the power cable for a few seconds. After you plug the power cable back in, wait another 30 seconds for the NETGEAR DGN2200 to power on.Now that you've reset the router, you can log in with the IP address mentioned above and the admin and password username/password combination.Be sure to choose the right IP address for the specific version of your router.Change the default password on the router to protect against unauthorized access. You can store the new password in a free password manager to avoid forgetting it.  Restore and Back Up Your Custom SettingsA freshly reset router doesn't have any of your previous settings on it. This meansthat not only were the username and password reset but also any custom DNS servers, wireless network settings, etc. You must re-enter that information if you want to set up the router as it was before.Back up your customizations to a file to simplify the reset process should you everneed to repeat it in the future. See Manage the Configuration File in the DGN2200manual (linked below) for help backing up the router's settings. If You Can't Access the DGN2200 RouterIf router's default IP address has been changed since it was first set up, you won't be able to access the DGN2200 router at the address mentioned above. Fortunately, you can discover the correct IP address without resetting the router by looking up the default gateway IP address on a computer that's connected to the router. If you need help doing this, see how to find your default gateway IP address.NETGEAR DGN2200 Firmware and Manual LinksVisit NETGEAR DGN2200v1 Support for everything NETGEAR has on the DGN2200 router, including user manuals, firmware downloads, support articles, and more.
