  Lesson 1  Phrasal verbs with  goMary’s story My French friend Mary had always dreamt to go on  a trip to London. Firstly, she persuaded her friend who she went out  with to travel with her. Her boyfriend usually went along with  what she said. After that, she made a booking inthe travel agency. Mary was a bit upset. Her tour was rather expensive. “Prices are  always going up ,” she thought. Then,she bought a guidebook to go over  the most remarkable landmarks of London. She found out that the first referenceabout London went back to  the 1 st  century A.D. Mary was very excited about her future excursions in England’s capital.However, she couldn’t imagine what bad experience she would go through . When the happy couple was on the ferry to cross the English Chanel, suddenly the lights went out  and then thealarms went off  . “What’ s going on ?” she cried. The carriage was on fire. It was chaos. They managed to go out   of   thecarriage. Mary was so disappointed that she went down with  the nervous breakdown.  Nevertheless, she would like to go back to her obsession to see one of the world’s greatest cities.
