  Regulation FP-4.0 – Building Fire Protection Design Features and Life Safety Requirements 4.1Fire Protection Design nalysis!  A fire protection design analysis is required for all designs and shall address the fire pro   tectionrequirements of the project as required by these regulations. The fire protection design analysis shallbe separate from other disciplines and shall be submitted with concept submission. The same shallinclude the following: 4.1.1Building code analysis i.e. type of construction, height and area limitations and buildingseparation or eposure protection. 4.1.! lassification of #ccupancy4.1.$%equirement for fire rated walls, fire rated doors, fire dampers with their fire resisti&e ratings,smo'e compartmentation ( smo'e barriers.4.1.4)eans of egress in accordance with *+A 1-1 occupant loads, eit capacities etc/.4.1.0Analysis of automatic sprin'ler systems and other suppression systems and protected areas,including hydraulic analysis of required water demand. 4.1.2ater supplies, water distribution, location of fire hydrants.4.1.3mo'e control methods and smo'e control systems.4.1.5+ire Alarm ystem the type of alarm system and location of alarm equipment/.4.1.6+ire detection system the type of detection system and location of detectors/.4.1.1-tandpipe systems and fire etinguishers.4.1.117nterior finish ratings.4.1.1! onnection to and description of fire alarm super&ising system.4.1.1$7dentify the &arious occupancies and ha8ardous areas associated with the facility.4.1.14+ire 9ept access.4.1.10 oordination with security requirements. Cisting +%T plywood installations shall be regularly inspected for structuralintegrity. %eplacement of damaged +%T plywood may require additional fire protectionmeasures if +%T plywood is to be replaced with more combustible materials.i7nsulation:  Thermal and acoustical insulation with a flame spread +/ rating not higher than 30and smo'e de&eloped 9/ rating not higher than 10- when tested in accordance with AT)C54 *+A !00/ shall be used. Application of cellular plastic insulation to building eteriors shallbe in accordance with the requirements of the rele&ant code<standard. ellular plastic shall notbe used for interior insulation.ii%oof co&erings and roof dec's:  %oof co&erings appro&ed and listed by an *%TD shall be used.The D %oofing )aterials and ystems 9irectory lists three classes A, B and / of acceptableroof co&erings based on compliance with D 36- and *+A !0. %oof dec' assemblies shall beD listed as +ire classifies or equal listing or classification by an *%TD or +) appro&ed eceptfor fully sprin'lered buildings and buildings less than 344 m ! .iii2ood:  2ood used for walls, platforms, bloc'ing, furring and similar applications shall be fireretardant, pressure impregnated. +ire retardant coatings of intumescent paint or other fireretardant chemicals are not acceptable in lieu of fire retardant treatment.i&+ire and mo'e Barriers: +ire and smo'e barriers shall comply with the requirements of *+A1-1. %ele&ant pro&isions of *+A 6-A shall apply for treatment of =?A duct penetrations,locations of smo'e dampers and smo'e detector requirements. ubject to the appro&al of C=+ire 9ept smo'e dampers may be omitted in =?A ducts that penetrate smo'e barriers where Revision: 00 October 2010 Page 4 of 16
