SAP Note   Header Data Symptom  You are working with SAP NetWeaver PI Advanced Adapter Engine Extended (AEX) and want to execute the PI Advanced Adapter Engine Extended initial setup CTC Wizard. This is a mandatory step after a new installation (or system copy import). You are looking for further information about this. Other Terms  AII, XI, XPI, Process Integration, Exchange Infrastructure, AAE, Advanced Adapter Engine, System Copy Reason and Prerequisites  After a PI Advanced Adapter Engine Extended installation (or import) you have to configure your system. This is a mandatory post installation step. For further information see the SAP Help Portal: Release 7.30: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/d7/3d6a419caa403f92db80addce66b71/content.htm Before running the Wizard, it is recommended to update the following Software Components (SCs) to the highest available patch level: Life Cycle Management: l LM CONFIGURATION (LMCFG) l LM CONFIGURATION WIZARD (LMCTC) Advanced Adapter Engine Extended: l MESSAGING SYSTEM SERVICE (MESSAGING) l XI ADAPTER FRAMEWORK (SAPXIAF) l XI TOOLS (SAPXITOOL) l ESR (SAPXIESR) l PI GUILIB (SAPXIGUILIB) This Wizard Template is available since Release 7.3. A prerequisite to run the Wizard is that the system was installed with the PI Advanced Adapter Engine Extended Installer (SAPInst). All PI services must be up and running. Solution  To run the CTC Wizard, start the SAP NetWeaver Administrator and navigate to Configuration --> Scenarios --> Configuration Wizard . Click on link Functional Unit Configuration UI . Select Functional Unit Advanced Adapter Engine Extended (AEX) . All required Functional Units are selected automatically. After the Wizard has been finished reboot the system to complete the installation. Question 6:  Do I have to execute manual steps to run my PI system against a remote (central) SLD? Question 7 : I have done a system copy of my AEX system. Do I have to run the CTC setup again? Question 8 : How can I restart the Wizard? Question 9 : When should I execute Wizard PI Test: AEX initial setup ? Answers   Question 1 : What does the Wizard do? Answer: The Wizard executes the following configuration steps: l It creates all technical and dialog users. l It creates user groups and assigns the respective roles. l It assigns the required roles to the users. l It initializes and configures the SLD. l It sets the AII Configuration Service Properties. l It configures SSO. l It imports ESR content. Question 2 : How can I check whether the single configuration steps have been executed successfully? Answer: l Reboot the system after the Wizard has been completed. l Call the J2EE Engine start page http://<host>:<port> and navigate to User Management . Search for the users names you have entered in the Wizard UI. Select the 'Roles' tab to check the UME Roles assignment. All users must have appropriate roles assigned. l Check the SLD Self Registration: See SAP note 1435392 how to do this. l Start the NetWeaver Administrator and navigate to 'Configuration --> Infrastructure --> Java System Properties'. Click the Services tab and select 'XPI Service: AII Config Service'. Check whether property com.sap.aii.ibrep.core.usage_type has value 'AEX'. Check also if the '*.serviceuser.name' properties contain the correct user names. l Start the ESR and logon with PISUPER. Check whether the content import was successfull. Question 3 : How can I configure HTTPS for the AEX? Answer: A prerequisite is that the Web AS Java itself was configured to support HTTPS. Check this by calling the start URL of the Engine: https://<host>:<port>. To configure secure communication for AEX, see the documentation at: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/48/cd3b43dd6837e3e10000000a42189d/frameset.htm Question 4 : What is SAP's recommendation about user names? Answer: For security reasons you should overwrite the proposed default user names. If you are working with a central SLD you may include the SID in the service user names to make them distinguishable. Question 5 : I receive a timeout error in step ESR Configuration --> Import ESR Content . What can I do? Answer: See SAP note 1488594. Question 6:  Do I have to execute manual steps to run my PI system against a remote (central) SLD? Answer: Yes. You have to create all AEX Service users on the remote SLD system manually and assign role/group SAP_SLD_CONFIGURATOR to them. To make the names unique, it is recommended to add the SID to the AEX service user names. This is the proposed default in the Wizard UI:  l PIAF<SID>, PIRWB<SID>, PIIS<SID>, PIDIR<SID>, PIREP<SID> In case you use different names, be aware that the length of user names is restricted to 12 characters for an ABAP UME (if the SLD runs on an ABAP system). Note: The Wizard checks during the setup whether the service users exist on the remote system and verifies their permissions. Pay attention that after unsuccessful retries the users may get locked in the remote SLD. Note: These users should be created as 'Technical User' so that not password change is required when logging on the first time. To finalize the SLD registration restart the AEX system after you have created the users. See notes 768148 (section 'Procedure for PI 7.10 and higher releases') and 939592 for further information (e.g. LDAP). For security reasons remote SLD user creation is on purpose not automated via the PI CTC Wizard. Question 7 : I have done a system copy of my AEX system. Do I have to run the CTC setup again? Answer: Yes, you have to execute the AEX Initial Setup again (this is mandatory)! In case you use a central SLD, pay attention to FAQ 6. After the CTC setup you have to restart the system. This triggers a fresh SLD Self registration of the single PI components. Question 8 : How can I restart the Wizard? Answer: Since release 7.30 all initial setup CTC Wizards are started from the Functional Unit UI (http://<host>:<port>/sld/fun). On that page select functional unit Advanced Adapter Engine Extended (AEX) and press Disable . Refresh the screen after that. Select the Functional Unit again and press Enable automatically . The initial setup is started again. Question 9 : When should I execute Wizard PI Test: AEX initial setup ? Answer: This test Wizard was designed for debugging and support issues. Since release 7.30 the initial setup is started from the Functional Unit (FUN) UI. From there it is not possible to configure the execution of only dedicated single configuration steps, which might be needed to reproduce an error situation. With this test wizard, this is possible again. Technically the PI Test: AEX initial setup wizard executes exactly the same configuration tasks as the initial setup started from the Functional Unit UI. The only missing step is that the Functional Unit Advanced Adapter Engine Extended (AEX) does not get marked as Enabled in the FUN UI.
