All to Jesus, I surrender all! This simple phrase is repeated often in the church world but is never truly accomplished by church attendees. To fully understand what the word surrender means you have to fully understand what Christ did on the cross. John 3:16 is the clique verse but it is truly packed with the idea that because of the outward and inward sin of our human nature, out of our rebellion, out of our denial, and out of our neglect, God loved us so much, that even in our own attempts to save ourselves, He surrendered His son as a living sacrifice to save us. Oswald Chambers in My Utmost for His Highest says, You will never know anything about it until you understand that John 3:16 means that God completely and absolutely gave Himself to us. In our surrender, we must give ourselves to God in the same way He gave Himself for us —  totally, unconditionally, and without reservation. The consequences and circumstances resulting from our surrender will never even enter our mind, because our life will be totally consumed with Him. He's saying that we should be so consumed with Christ so much that the consequences and circumstances, good or bad, will never enter our mind because we are so focused on giving our total life to Jesus Christ. The problem with this is we are too focused on the things of this world. We are too focused on what we get from Christ that we begin to compare ourselves to others and say things like If I had more money, I wouldn't be struggling with my faith. Or The people in the bible had it easy. They were there with Christ and He gave them everything that they wanted. We often times compare ourselves so that we can either feel better about ourselves or justify certain actions. Both show that we have veered far away from the gospel of Jesus Christ and have turned to simply asking for things from Christ because He owes us. Then the argument is God said he would bless me abundantly. He said He would supply all my needs and I really need that new MacBook Pro. If I just had that then I would see that God is truly blessing me. We look at the first part of Philippians 4:19 And my God will supply every need of yours.. you see Mr. Morris it says it right there in the scriptures that he will supply every one of my needs That's not at all what it's saying because when you read further on, it says according to His riches in glory which are in Christ Jesus. The riches we desire so much on earth are futile and meaningless and will perish but the eternal blessings and gifts we get from God will never perish, they last forever, and cannot be defiled. Meaning the blessings we are asking for are not here on earth. What if we turned our eyes upon Jesus? Really and truly turning to Him for every decision, every trial, every good thing and stop asking for blessings on this earth and start seeking His face. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.(Matthew 6:33 ESV) Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith,  who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.(Hebrews 12:1-2 ESV) Charles Spurgeon said it like this Let us pray that God the Holy Spirit would always enable us to be in downright, awful earnest about the salvation of our souls. May we never count this a matter of secondary importance, but may we seek first, and beyond everything else, the kingdom of God and his righteousness. May we lay hold on eternal life; may we so run that we may obtain. When we turn our eyes upon Him, the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace. When we truly surrender to God, we will not focus on the things of this earth but look solely on His face and seeking the desires of His will for us. Give to God whatever burdens you are carrying, in total submission to His will and His timing. He will provide for you every Spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3) in His time according to His will. Let us be like Micah in Micah 7. But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me. (Micah 7:7 ESV) Let us look to the scriptures for ways to surrender everything to God. Let's give him 100% of our lives because that's the least we can do. I'll finish with this: “It is a Christian's duty to force his way into the inner circle o f saintship; and if these saints were superior to us in their attainments, as they certainly were, let us follow them; let us emulate their ardour and holiness. We have the same light that they had, the same grace is accessible to us, and why should we rest satisfied until we have equalled them in heavenly character? They lived with Jesus, they lived for Jesus, therefore they grew like Jesus. Let us live by the same Spirit as they did, looking unto Jesus, and our saintship will soon be apparent.”  Excerpt From: Charles H Spurgeon. “Morning and Evening.  Let us fight to surrender all things to Christ and ferociously seek after Him. All to Jesus I surrender; All to Him I freely give; I will ever love and trust Him, In His presence daily live. All to Jesus I surrender; Humbly at His feet I bow, Worldly pleasures all forsaken; Take me, Jesus, take me now. All to Jesus I surrender; Make me, Savior, wholly Thine; Let me feel the Holy Spirit, Truly know that Thou art mine. All to Jesus I surrender;  Lord, I give myself to Thee; Fill me with Thy love and power; Let Thy blessing fall on me. All to Jesus I surrender; Now I feel the sacred flame. Oh, the joy of full salvation! Glory, glory, to His Name! I surrender all, I surrender all; All to Thee, my blessed Savior, I surrender all.
