Asking price of 10,000,000 Villa Faraggiana, Between Arona & Stresa Arona Lake Maggiore Two storey villa Built in 1855 Neoclassical architecture Large parkland Lake Maggiore Villa Faraggiana, Between Arona & Stresa. Stunning villa built in 1855 with large parkland Villa Faraggiana, Between Arona & Stresa, Arona Villa Faraggiana, between Arona & Stresa Lake Maggiore can be undoubtedly considered one of the most beautiful and picturesque corners of northern Italy and also of Europe, thanks to the Alps that mitigate the climate and enhance its charm with their eternal snows that turn pink at dawn and sunset and through the variety of landscapes which are scattered around its shores: superb villas surrounded by parks and gardens, vestiges of the past in the historic centres of towns reflecting in its deep waters, the islands of the Borromeo Gulf, small drops of beauty From the town of Arona, going along the Piedmontese bank of the lake through Stresa, Verbania, Cannero and Cannobio, the view will be something unforgettable: the lush and green colour spots of flowers accompany the traveller to the hills and mountains up to the border with Switzerland. Since the early years of 900 the nobility and gentry of the main cities not far from the lake (Milan, Turin), and even the ones coming from Northern Europe, attracted by the stories of the first travellers who had enhanced the beauties in their countries of origin, started to build homes worthy of his rank, just as a summer residence or a place for their whole life This was the reason of such a variety of styles of villas: the owners tried to recreate the atmosphere of their lands of origin, perhaps they were missing it or, more likely, they wanted to impress their guest by the trendiest styles: Art Nouveau and Neoclassicism, the best example of this which is the elegant Villa Faraggiana, a wonderful place in panoramic position between Arona and Stresa, along the national road of the Simplon. Built in 1855 by the noble family of Faraggiana from Sarzana (Liguria), who moved to Piedmont some years before, according to the project to the engineer Busser from Galliate (NO), it was designed as a resort for the family by Senator Faraggiana ( ), his wife and two children. Thanks to the passion of Faraggiana for the study of animals and the natural sciences, the park became the site of an important collection of zoo animals and a museum, still part of the Museum of Natural History Faraggiana- Ferrandi of Novara. After the death of the founders as their heirs did not use the villa it became a refuge for displaced people and soldiers. Then the magnificent property was given as a gift to the Nuns Order of Poverelle of Bergamo, being at first an orphanage and later a sanatorium. This wonderful two-storey villa with its elegant, rectangular structure, easily glimpsed between the two marble lions crouching atop the support pillars of the gate, is best example of neoclassical architecture of Lake Maggiore. Some among the most significant elements characterizing its structure: the stairway to the villa, the elegant columns supporting the balcony; upstairs, the lunettes (containing the busts of Aristotle, Boccaccio, Dante, Petrarch and Tasso) above the central windows, the pediment of the facade with two reliefs supporting a medallion with the family motto IN HOC Erat votis. The park, totally neglected during the years following World War II, has now regained its former glory being one of the elements creating the atmosphere of this wonderful villa.
