The !oard of irectors has adopted# and commends to its certificants# the following code of conduct. Objective: The ob$ecti%e of this code is to pro%ide guidance for appropriate conduct for the certificants of the American Council for Accredited Certification as the engage in their indi%idual professions. Rules of Conduct: Certificants of the American Council for Accredited Certification shall: &.Practice their respecti%e professions following accepted industr standards and guidelines. '.(xercise caution not to misrepresent their credentials# training or experience. ). eal responsibl in ad%ising parties regarding potential ris*s related to their fields of expertise. +.,aintain confidentialit concerning both personal and business information gathered in the performance of their professions# except in the case of o%erriding legal and/or health concerns. -.A%oid instances where conflict of interest or compromise of professional $udgment ma occur. .Act with integrit to uphold the standards of their profession and of the Council and a%oid an conduct that could ad%ersel reflect on the Council and its certificants. Note on Conflicts of Interest: The American Council for Accredited Certification strongl discourages its certificants from performing both assessment ser%ices and contracting ser%ices on the same pro$ect.  Certificants who offer both ser%ices to the same client create a percei%ed conflict of interest regardless of their integrit. e%ertheless# as circumstances sometimes pre%ent the emploment of multiple professionals on the same pro$ect# ACAC does not prohibit the practice# nor does ACAC ma*e compliance with this polic a condition of continued certification. Complaints, Appeals and Due Process Procedures: &.The Certification !oard is responsible for all facets of the certification program# including the re%iew and e%aluation of applications# the de%elopment and administration of examinations# the granting and reissuing of certificates and the ad$udication of complaints against certificants. '.An holder of a %alid ACAC certification or applicant for such a certification ma appeal the decisions of the Certification !oard. ).The complaint or appeal shall be made in writing %ia certified mail to the Certification  Administrator. +.In the case of complaints# the Certification Administrator shall forward the complaint to the accused certificant and allow him or her ample time to respond. -.The Certification Administrator# at the direction of the (xecuti%e Committee# ma forward the complaint or appeal to the Certification !oard# which o%ersees the certification program in 0uestion. .The Certification !oard will re%iew its decision in the case and rule on the complaint or appeal b unanimous %ote. 1.2nce the Certification !oard has ruled# the complaint or appeal ma be re0uested to be continued in writing %ia certified mail to the ational Ad%isor !oard. 3.The ational Ad%isor !oard will be the final court of appeal and will rule on the complaint or appeal b unanimous %ote. 4.In resol%ing complaints or appeals# ACAC ma rule onl on its own decisions to grant or den certification and recertification.
