Approximate number of hours involved 5/11/2013 Guitar Class This is my first lesson. In this lesson I learned about musical notes. It was hard since it was the first class, I already new some chords but I learned allot. Success: I learned ne musical notes. I felt exited because I knew I had lots to learn, besides it being really interesting. Next time I want to keep learning, I will be practicing at home. 1 hour. 7/11/2013 Guitar Class This class I learned the major scale. It was hard because it involves lots of musical notes and I had to remember the sequence. Success: I managed to memorize it and play it fluently in time. I felt I was learning something most people don’t know son it felt well. Next time I want to mix this scale with the other consecutive scales. 1 hour. 12/11/13 Guitar Class This class I learned the basic chords in their raw form: A, C, D, G, B, E and F. It was hard to change from chord to chord. Success: I learned all of them. I felt nervous because I didn’t want to fail, but at the end the teacher told me I was really good which motivated me. Next time I want to learn more chords and more combinations. 1 hour. 14/11/13 Guitar Class For the first time I improvised in the lesson using the major scale and a set of chords. This was hard because I had to listen very carefully to the chord so I could improvise with the correct note and in time. Success: I managed to improvise a solo for the first time. Felt accomplished and satisfied. Next time I want to improvise at a faster speed. 1 hour. 19/11/13 Guitar Class This class I learned about progression. It wasn’t hard I didn’t encounter difficulties, I jus had to learn the basis and how to do it. Success: I learned about progression and how to do it. I felt accomplished and as a true musician. I want to use this with my band. 1 hour.  Alejandro Chiriboga, Year 12/Year13 CAS 26/11/13 Guitar Class In this class I learned the first pentatonic scale. It wasn’t hard, but swing timing was difficult. Success: I can now improvise with the pentatonic scale and play blues. I felt like Son House. I will practice this in my house so next time I can be more fluent. 1 hour. 28/11/13 Guitar Class In this class I learned Progression Blues. It was hard because I had to maintain timing alongside a set of blues chords. Success: I managed to play blues in progression. I felt satisfied because it was hard. Next time I want to introduce this to my band and jam with them. 1 hour. 03/12/13 Guitar Class In this class I learned section 2 of the pentatonic scale. It was hard to maintain in time, but other than that I found it was really easy. Success: I can now mix both pentatonic scales together. I felt satisfied again because now I have more knowledge in blues. Next time I will use this with my band in a jam session. 1 hour. 05/12/13 Guitar Class This lesson I learned all about Chicago blues! It was hard because of the change in swing timing. Success: I learned about Chicago background and how most blues players developed. Also I learned the essence of Chicago blues and what makes it so special from the other type of blues. I felt like a complete blues player. My plans for the next lesson are to improvise Chicago blues. 1 hour. 10/12/13 Guitar Class This lesson I learned some blues licks in order to improve my improvisation. It was hard because there are lots of licks and I had to memorize all of them. Success: I learned all of tem and managed to use it In my improvisation. I want to use this for my band. 1 hour. 12/12/13 Guitar Class This class I practiced my technique. It was hard but basic. Success: I improved my technique and my skills. It felt really rewarding. Next time I will practice harder in my house to keep mastering my techniques. 1 hour.  Alejandro Chiriboga, Year 12/Year13 CAS 17/12/13 Guitar Class In this class I learned about Repertoire. It was hard at start but then I got it. Success: this is one step forward onto jazz. I felt good because I enjoy everything that has to do with making music. Next time I will use this with my band. 1 hour. 19/12/13 Guitar class I did the same thing as I did in the previous class. It was harder this time because it involved harder chords. Success: I managed to follow my repertoire in time. I felt good because I achieved a greater goal. Next time I want a harder combination of chords. 1 hour. Recording Q1 (page 3) Date Activity Thoughts: What did you do? Problems encountered? Successes? Feelings? Ideas for next time? Approximate number of hours involved 07/01/14 Guitar Class In this class I practiced my Repertoire. It was hard to follow the repertoire in time. Success: I managed to make it. I felt exited because I was improving my musical reading skills. Next time I want to keep practicing this. 1 hour. 09/01/14 Guitar Class I did the same thing that I did last class: Repertoire. Problems encountered? Successes? Feelings? Ideas for next time? Approximate number of hours involved 16/01/2014 Guitar Class In this class I studied the first set of bar chords: C, D, E, F, G, A and B. At start it was really hard to get my fingers in the right position. I managed to be more fluent at the end. I felt great because I was making music, which felt really good. I must practice my chords in order to be more fluent so next time I can move forward to the next lesson. Each lesson takes an hour: 1 hour. 21/01/2014 Guitar Class This class I studied the first set of arpeggios: A7,D7 and E7. It was hard to follow the rhythm because of the change in arpeggios. It took me a while but I got the rhythm of the song well and the change of arpeggios right. This felt really satisfactory since it is a really hard thing to accomplish. Next time I want to involve both chords and arpeggios together. 1 hour. 23/01/2014 Guitar Class This class I continued learning arpeggios in sequence: A7-D7-E7 back to A7 and so on. This sequence makes a blues song. My success was that I managed to do it very well and in ‘swing’ time. Felt really good to play blues. I want to improvise using this set of arpeggios. 1 hour. 28/01/2014 Guitar Class In this class I trained my scales: Pentatonic. It was hard to maintain in order and inside swing time. Success was that I managed to accelerate and move my fingers faster. I want to use this with the arpeggios for next lesson. 1 hour. 30/01/2014 Guitar Class This class I practiced my repertoire, which is playing notes that are written on a piece of paper in time. It was hard to read and play at the same time. At the end I managed to play the entire song. I want to write my blues pentatonic scale with my arpeggios into a table and play along with other people. 1 hour.
