Types of College Students You have just graduated from high school and passed the Standard Academic Test. Your application to college has been accepted and it’s your first day at class. It is most likely you will encounter three types of college students on your campus. The three types of college students are usually called the jocks, the nerds, and the normal people. The reason for this essay is to clear up some concepts regarding the three types of college students. One group, The Jocks, is the show-off type of people who puts off their homework assignments until the last minute. Once the assignment is completed at the last minute, the assignment is usually scored a low grade. The reason for this is because the jocks are always partying, going out on dates, or having fun with their sorority. The jocks wear anything to include torn jeans/shirts, work down sneakers or boots and cheap, expensive-looking jacket. The second group, known campus-wide, is the nerds because they are obsessed with books, constantly studying and learning about their interests. The nerds are usually annoying with their obnoxious laughter regarding a really stupid joke. The nerds wear a nice shirt with a bow tie, or a tie and a nicely ironed dress  pants and always has a pocket protector to prevent ink stains from their pens. The nerd spends their school night with a tight schedule for recreation, school homework, and learning new things that captures their interests. Computer programming, calculator programming, the biology of their pet frog are some of the common things that interests the nerds. The third group is the normal group, they are usually typical college students attending their scheduled classes, getting the homework assignments done and turned in on time. The normal group is usually mothers/fathers that have hired baby sitters to watch their son(s)/daughter(s) while they attend the college they are enrolled in. They spend their recreation time studying, exercising, having fun with their friends, spending time with family, or simply offering their time to give back to their community. In Conclusion, there is no college campus without any of the three groups explained above. They are in each and every campus nationwide and they make the college campus more interesting, specifically for the psychology students. In my opinion, I think of myself on the borderline between the Jock and the nerds. On the jock side, I tend to postpone the homework assignments sometimes and eventually end up doing all of the assignments at the last-minute. On the nerd side, I never miss a day without using the internet and/or the computer, because I always use the computer to get my homework assignments done for most of the classes.   Mountain Resort For those who like winter sports like skiing and snowboarding, we have just the perfect place- the remote yet very popular mountain resort called Balea Lake. It is situated at an altitude of 2,034m, being the highest mountain resort of Romania. The cliffs are covered with snow from November till late July, sometimes still persisting till the new one arrives. First, you have to reach Balea Waterfall, and only afterwards try to get to the lake. Late spring is the best time to come- you take the main road and you’re disappointed because you see no sign of snow and you think you have come such a long way for nothing. But you keep driving, hoping to find that wonderful place where you can ski or snowboard in T- shirt only, without worrying you’ll catch another cold and hoping to meet some of the friends you haven’t seen for the past  month or more. The road makes a big turn and suddenly you see what you’ve been waiting for: the big mountains are still covered with snow. So everyone is happy and anxious to finally arrive up there. The area is fantastic for the best skiers and boarders and it offers excellent routes for free ride. The resort has only two chalets, each one situated on one side of the lake. There are many tow-days contests taking place here. The participants are from many different countries and they come here to have fun and do what they like and know best: extreme ski and snowboard. Snowboard is relatively a new extreme sport in Romania, but there already are many kids who practice it. Parties where everyone is having a good time and creating a friendly atmosphere, one would say specific to this place follow the contests. The party lasts till late in the night, when a peaceful silence covers the mountains. But the calm doesn’t last too long. Tired, but woken by the lukewarm rays of sun, the riders  begin the new day with some tricks and jumps on the quarter pipe taking advantage of the snow as much as possible. This is the place where my friends and I spend a great deal of our leisure time. The atmosphere is very cozy-going and friendly. The calm and splendor of the mountains helps me relax and offers me the chance of escaping the everyday routine and problems by doing what I like best: snowboarding.  The Courthouse    When we are young, most of us are somewhat naive. We are inherently taught that good will always triumph over evil. A courthouse is the forum where evil should be dealt with. But, in reality, this is seldom the case. The county courthouse looks like a typical courthouse. The courthouse itself looks like a place where justice is served. It is a Romanesque building, three stories high, with large pillars in the front. Ivy grows up one side of the building. The green grass in the courtyard is immaculately kept. The United States flag flies high above the building. Etched in stone on the front wall of the courthouse are the words truth, justice, and liberty. This is a place where one should feel truly safe. As I walk inside the cold and quiet building, a young woman is talking with the circuit court clerk. She is very innocent looking, with blond hair and a petite figure. She seems to be getting more upset by the second. The young lady finally erupts, yelling and almost crying. Her ex-husband has not paid her child support in a month, and she cannot buy diapers for her baby. The clerk tells her that nobody can do anything about it until he is six months behind in his support. After five more minutes of intense arguing, the young lady, now engulfed in tears, leaves. The clerk shrugs and turns around. The building seems colder upstairs. There almost seems to be a dampness in the air. Down a corridor there are empty offices and paintings of important looking people. I recognize two of them as Washington and Jefferson. In between them is a copy of the constitution. As I read it I chuckle, and wonder if this government is really what they had in mind. Farther down the hall I hear voices. The general court is in session. Inside the courtroom, a scruffy-looking man is in front of the judge. He has been charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest. He does not seem nervous; he has probably done this before. I assume he will be  put in jail for a little while, at the least. The judge tells the man that he does not want to see him in court again. The man assures the judge that he will not be back. With the bang of a gavel, the  judge gives him a five dollar fine, plus court costs. The man stumbles out of the courtroom already looking half-drunk again. As I walk out of the courtroom, the courthouse seems colder than ever. This is not a place where truth, justice, and liberty prevail. It is a place of tragedy. A place where innocent people suffer  because of the system, and where guilty people walk free because of it.   My Most Comfortable Place - Beach Cala Bassa The beaches in Ibiza are great. I have to admit it. But none of them match the tranquility and comfort of beach Cala Bassa. Beach Cala Bassa is in Ibiza about one mile south of the main area. It is known as the surfer’s paradise and the best beach in Ibiza . I relax as I watch the surfers gently glide over the tumbling ocean waves. Seeing the tall palm trees sway in the wind is calming to me as they are making gentle, peaceful sounds. The branches show no sign of a snap, crack or sputter as the location is too peaceful to encounter such occurrences. As I watch the rolling sand dunes the pier floats into my vision. The  pier, as red as a ruby, stands out to me among the deep blue ocean. As I lay on the sand, I see kites rise above the clouds and soar gracefully in the wind, which is blowing gently through the trees and sand, slowly whispering as if it were calling my name. The fisherman cast their line off the pier hoping to feel a tug and reel in a big fish. The sounds of Beach Cala Bassa are that of harmony. One of the sounds I tune to first is the sound of the birds singing and chirping away as if they are creating a song. Seagulls mostly. Peacefully chirping as they soar overhead searching for food. After sitting for a few minutes, I'll hear the light breeze coming down through the trees, rustling their leaves. The howling wind whistles through the beach like an arriving train. As the crash of the waves thunder through my ears, it brings me back to reality while I daydream. The sound of oil rigs across Main Street sound like a steady drum keeping the beat in an orchestra of sounds. Everything on Beach Cala Bassa has its own unique feel. The salty air blowing on my face feels wet and cool as it passes by. The feeling of the grainy sand is comforting to my feet as I walk across the shore. When I plunge into the ocean's salt water, it feels refreshing to my skin like a glass of water on a hot day. Beach Cala Bassa is my most comfortable place mainly because of the sights, sounds, and the unique feel of everything mentioned in this piece. When I'm there, I feel totally relaxed as if I were in my own little world. The State Fair Horse Show
