March 12,2014. Time is precious. Time is gold. Time lost can never be regained. So let us make use of our time wisely and not just let it pass by to waste. It is a fact that all of us possess the same amount of time stored for us. Nature has given us the same number of hours, day in and day out. From the time we wake up in the morning, to the time we go to sleep in the evening, all of us have the same number of minutes to spend. It is the way we spend our time that matters. How often do we hear people complain that they have no time to do the things they want to do? A working student claimed that if only he had time, he could have finished a four-year course. A friend of mine said that if only he had sufficient time to study, he could have topped his class. A typing contestant remarked that he could have won the contest if only he had enough time to practice. In most cases, the problem is not the lack of time that prevents us from doing the things we intend to do, but most often our desire is not strong enough to make us exert the necessary effort toward doing it. If we really have the desire and will power to act, perhaps we will find the time and opportunity to fulfill our dreams. How many working students have succeeded in obtaining a four-year degree diploma? How many great men who, like all of us, did not have enough time, yet they were able to accomplish their projects? They may have labored for longer hours, and may have done the work piece by piece, but at least day have made their dreams a reality. Lesson 15    BAYBAY TOWNS March 12,2014 Have you ever traveled though the Baybay towns along the shores of Laguna de bay? If not, better try it one day. You will doubtless find much pleasure in going around this way. You will surely appreciate the beauty nature has endowed this part of the country .Each town can claim its own special attraction. Pagsanjan. For instance , the town of Pagsanjan is famous for its gorgeous waterfalls whish most tourists never fail to visit. You, too, should try to see these wonderful creations of nature. You will definitely enjoy the panoramic view as you go upstream on a banca along the gorge. The sides of the gorge are covered with an astonishing variety of vegetation including coconut trees, wild flowering plants, shrubs, different kinds of moss, etc. As you go downstream you will experience the thrill of shooting the rapids. At the town proper, you will be able to buy comfortable shoes and pretty slippers or step-ins at very low prices. Lumban. The next town Lumban is well-known for embroidered ―Barong Tagalog‖ and lady’s dresses with intricate designs. Beautifully embroidered dress materials are also made here, as are table cloths of different sizes with matching napkins, bedspreads, etc. At top of the mountain of this area lies the Kaliraya Resort, a very quiet and peaceful place — an excellent nook for relaxation. Surrounding this terrain are lovely gardens of flowering and fruit-bearing trees. Here, too, is an enchanting lake where you can go boating and fishing. Kalayaan. As you proceed to the next town, Kalyaan, You will see an impressive church on top of a hill at the foot of the mountain. Not so far away are charming twin waterfalls where most young people of the town go bathing and enjoy picnicking. Paete. Then comes Paete, The Land of skillful sculptors most famous for their delicate woodcarvings. Many replicas of saints and other wood statues are done in this town. While the menfolk do the woodcarvings, the womenfolk make colorful paper-mache toys that are glamorized replicas of horses, carabaos, roosters, ducks, etc. Simple and artistic wooden shoes are also produced in quantities for the market. This town is also noted for its sweet lanzones and santol. Pakil. A kilometer from Paete is the small and quiet town of Pakil. You will find this vi;;age-like place most interesting . Situated as it is at the foot of the steep slopes of the Sierra Madre Mountain among the fruit – bearing trees of lanzones, santol, avocado, starapple,  jackfruit, etc.   Pakil, too, has a unique woodcraft industry which uses the skillful curving of wood-shavings. This art is perhaps the only one of its kind you will find in the country. You will wonder how to artisans with their dexterous hands can create before your eyes, the intricate and delicate wings of butterflies, birds, swans, and especially the peacock’s ornate plumage in  just a few minutes. The most outstanding attraction in this town is the beautiful swimming pool from natural spring with cool, crystal water — so refreshing. The water is so clear that even if you happened to drop your ring, bracelet or earring while swimming. You could soon be able to recover it. This pool is believed to have healing power as it is blessed by the miraculous Virgen de los Dolores. I am sure you will love these picturesque Laguna towns and will want to revisit them again and again. Lesson98. 14   March 10,2014. Lesson96. 12
