It shows that how smoking is dangerous and cigarette smoke contains poisonous materials which affect every one particularly women in pregnancy. Statistics from USA shows that a large number of women are suffering from this problem. Effects of smoking on pregnant women are due to inclusion of harmful chemicals in bloodstream of women. These chemicals and poisonous substances not only make women in danger but also travel to baby and make him vulnerable to many diseases and life threatening consequences. Second hand smoke also poses same threats as direct smoke do. Few changes in daily routine and strong will power can help to quit smoking. Introduction:  4 An old American singer and lyrist Tim Spencer (1947), wrote and sang a song in which he said that at the one end of a cigarette is a flame and at the other end is a fool. His saying is  being proven by every passing day. It is now well established fact that smoking cigarette is one of the most harmful acts humans perform happily without realizing the horrible consequences. Hazards of smoking cigarette worsen when it is consumed by the pregnant women. Pregnant women are not alone to face these dangerous outcomes of smoking because they carry a new life within them. This new and fragile little gift of God is also affected by the poisonous smoke. Smoking during pregnancy put mother and baby both in a life threatening condition. Miscarriages and labor complications are common in smoking mothers but still if baby manages to open his eyes in this world he may face permanent physical problems for the rest of his life. Statistics: Approximately one person dies every six seconds due to tobacco. It kills up to half of its users that are nearly 6 million people each year. More than five million of those deaths are the results of direct tobacco use while more than 600,000 are the result of non smokers being exposed to second hand smoke. This Annual death toll could rise to more than eight million by 2030 (World Health Organization Fact Sheet, July 2013) . Data taken from 27 US States in 2010 shows that approximately 10.7% of women reported smoking during the last three months of pregnancy. Also of the women who smoked 3 months before pregnancy, 54% quit during pregnancy. Among women who quit smoking during  pregnancy, 44% relapsed within 6 months after delivery (Center of Disease Control and  Prevention USA, PRAMS Study, 2010).
