There is also parking on the school grounds. To access this you must continue up Taranaki Street to the traffic lights and enter through the main entrance. You must then walk down the road or through the school to the venue entrance. There is NO parking allowed up the school driveway (Hill Lane). You will be asked to move your car if you park here. Entrance The main entrance to the Sports Hall is off Taranaki Street. This is opposite CrossFit Central Wellington, Cory s Electrical and by the pedestrian crossing. Walk up the driveway (Hill Lane) and the entrance will be on your right. 4 Opening Hours The venue will be open at the following times: Friday 7.45am Saturday 6.45am Sunday 6.45am Entry Fee Entry fee for the three days of the competition is FREE. Specific Event Information Weekend Timetable Verification of Entries Meeting Option 1: Attend the meeting Date: Thursday 1st October Time: 5pm - 6pm Venue: Wellington High School Sports Hall Option 2: Call or text to verify Contact Emma Pilkington on You can text anytime on Thursday up until 6pm Calls need to be made between 4pm and 6pm on Thursday Why verify your entry? Participants/Coaches/Club representatives have the option to verify and make last changes regarding their athlete s entry for 5 this competition. Body weight class changes and entry total changes may be made up until the end of the verification meeting. It is also the only time you will get to check that your athlete s details have been recorded correctly. Team Entries Team entry forms must be filled out at the verification of entries meeting by a club representative. The names of the team members must be lodged to the Competition Secretary at the conclusion of this meeting. Each team may have: A maximum of eight male Athletes, with no more than two Athletes in each bodyweight class. A maximum number of seven female Athletes, with no more than two Athletes in each bodyweight class. Annual General Meeting (AGM) Date: Friday 2 nd October Time: 7.00pm start until late Venue: Wellington High School Sports Hall This meeting is open to all financial members of OWNZ and we do encourage all to attend. For the benefit of your club and its future in our sport, please make sure you have one representative present. Meeting Agenda The meeting agenda for the 2015 Annual General Meeting will be as follows: 1. Presentation and acceptance of minutes from the 2014 Annual General Meeting. 2. Appointment of the auditor 10. Setting the 2016 annual subscription 11. Amendments to the Constitution 12. Setting of honoraria 13. General business AGM Rules This meeting will be held in accordance with the provisions of the OWNZ Constitution. Session Schedule 7 Competitor Information International IWF Rules Apply Uniform requirements These are to be of IWF standard. For detailed information please see page 30 in the IWF Technical, Competition Rules & Regulations. To put it briefly: A one piece suit must be worn A collarless t- shirt may be worn underneath but it cannot cover your elbows Socks cannot cover the knees Weightlifting shoes must be worn Maximum width of a weightlifting belt is 12cm Wrist wraps/guards cannot connect out onto the thumb Compulsory Coach Each athlete must have a coach making their weight changes throughout the competition. Please discuss this with your local club to make sure you have a coach to guide you throughout your competition. Informal Reminders/Suggestions No swearing on the competition platform Presenting yourself in a formal way for presentation and prize giving in your club uniform is highly recommended Remember to wait for the signal (buzzer and light) to put the bar down after your lift attempt Our scoring system gives a 30 second call, try not to be distracted by this if you are about to lift Coaches Passes These will be given to athletes at weigh in. 1 athlete = 2 passes 8 2 athletes = 3 passes 3 or more athletes from one club = 2 passes per athlete Coaches will be identified with a bright coloured wrist band. These must be worn to receive entry into the warm up area. Session Prize Giving After each session there will be a prize giving. All competitors must be available for this. All competitors will receive a participation certificate. First, second and third placings will receive a medal and certificate. All competitors are then expected to be available for a group photo after the prize giving. Drug Free Sport NZ After the final lift of your session, you may be approached by a Drug Free Sport NZ representative to be drug tested. Please note that you still need to be available for prize- giving and then the representative will escort you to the Drug Testing Room. This room is the Pavilion opposite the Sports Hall by the school field. After Function/Prize Giving *****PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE***** Venue: Hotel Bristol Address: Cuba Street, Wellington Attire: Semi formal Our private function room at Hotel Bristol will be open from 7pm. We ask that all attendees arrive before 7.30pm as Prize- Giving will start at 7.45pm sharp. This room is up stairs. There will be signs to guide you as you arrive. 9 Please make sure that you have purchased your ticket to this event. Nibbles will be provided and drinks can be purchased from the bar at the venue. Any inappropriate behaviour or intoxication, you will be asked to leave the premises. Facilities Training Venues We recommend the following facilities for your training needs while staying in Wellington. These are located off to the side of the sports hall. There are also multiple showers in these bathrooms. Athlete Specific We will have a microwave onsite for athletes to use. Please bring your own cutlery/crockery and make sure you keep the area tidy. Athlete Weigh In The weigh in room is a separate office room which will be signed so that you can t miss it! Athletes DO NOT have access to the scales when officials are weighing in competitors for the hour weigh in time. Athletes are able to use the competition scales outside of this time to check their weight. Athletes may come in on Thursday 1 st October to the competition venue to check your weight on the scales but this is only between 5pm and 6pm. However, we cannot guarantee the scales will be at the venue prior to 5pm on the Thursday. Sauna The closest sauna facility to the competition venue is the Freyberg Pool & Fitness Centre by Oriental Bay. Address: 139 Oriental Parade Opening Hours: 6am 9pm daily Warm up Area The warm up area is behind the competition platform and is blocked off by black drapes. Only coaches and athletes competing in that session will have access to this area. 11 It is expected that after each prize giving, all coaches and athletes put all of the gear back where they found it and ensure the area is tidy for the next session. Please respect these rules as they are important for safety reasons. General Information Facebook We will be updating the OWNZ Facebook page over the three day event. If you can t attend as a spectator, then stay up to date via our page: Olympic Weightlifting New Zealand Website Make sure you also check out our website for more weightlifting information: Live Streaming We will be releasing a live stream link on Friday morning via our olympicweightliftingnz Bambuser account. If you travel down Taranaki Street to Cuba Street, multiple cafes that supply good quality coffee & food can be found. Alcohol There is no alcohol to be sold or consumed onsite at the Wellington High School Sports Hall. Clothing Please be sure to bring warm clothing as you know Wellington weather! Video/Media There will be photographers, videographers and possible other media present over the three day competition. Athletes, coaches and spectators may be asked for a short interview/ end up in photos or video footage. Emergency The event announcer will provide a briefing before the start of each session about what to do in case of an emergency.
