Starting from the Last Supper of Leonardo, you will walk to Castello Sforzesco and then reach Piazza Duomo, visit the Dom and end with La Scala Theater after lunch. The Last Supper of Leonardo da Vinci is hosted in the adjacencies of the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. This painting is one of the greatest masterpieces of art of every time, so important to be listed as part of UNESCO's Worldwide Heritage in 1980, a work of art that really changed the history of world art. 3 The genius of the Tuscan painter reached here one of its highest peaks. Thanks to the incredible painting technique and the complex translation in painting of the Gospels message. Our guide will give you historical and artistic explanation of the painting and the nearby church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, with the famous presbytery designed by Bramante, the first architect of San Peter in Rome. Time for a capuccino and get ready to walk to piazza Duomo through the gardens of the Castello Sforzesco. The park was created on the orders of Gian Galeazzo Visconti, at the end of the 14th century. It was built on a broad stretch of land to the north of the castle and consisted of both cultivated fields and an ornamental garden. In 1457 Carlo da Cremona expanded the gardens for Francesco Sforza. During the reign of Ludovico il Moro, at the height of Milanese court's influence, Leonardo da Vinci himself was charged with organising ceremonies and parties in the Ducal Gardens. After the fall of the Sforzas and the arrival of their Spanish successors in the 1500s the vast area fell into disrepair. More recently, the town planning scheme of 1889, signed by the architect Cesare Beruto, set aside a large area for the park. The design is the work of Emilio Alemagna, who between 1890 and 1893 created an English romantic garden with gentle artificial slopes, groves in imitation of the open countryside, waterways and broad paths for carriages. The paths had the purpose of symbolically linking the Milan of the Sforzas with that of Napoleon, by connecting the Castle with the Arena and the 19th century arch. 4 After the gardens, the guide will show you where have a light and tasty lunch. After lunch, the tour goes on to the La Scala Theatre. La Scala Theatre Opera House, one of the biggest and most modern Theatre in the world since 1776, when it was made by Giuseppe Piermarini, the most important architect in Milan in the late 18th century. Our tour will include an insider access to the theatre and to the museum halls. Then the impressive Cathedral awaits for you: built in six centuries from 1368 to 1762 it is the biggest gothic cathedral and the second largest Catholic church, after St. Peter in Rome, in the world. The Duomo di Milano is often refered as the Fabbrica del Duomo or the church s factory, not only because the construction lasted so long but also because big building needs continuous care and restorations. Two steps out of the church and we will under the amazing vaulted arcade known as Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II . Built in the 19th century, this glass-vaulted shopping center represents of the first example of Art Nouveau Style in the world. The Galleria is affectionately called the living room of the Milaneses , because it was the meeting point of Artists, Poets, and Men of Letters in the 19th century, in its bar and cafès, still existing inside the Galleria.
