The reception areas showcase the company s data centre, featuring Emerson s Liebert surge protectors, air conditioning, UPS backup power and Knurr racks. Other Emerson products have been incorporated throughout: The reception meeting room features a clear glass garage door powered by an Emerson motor The HVAC system incorporates Emerson Climate Technologies products The closets are outfitted with Closet Maid shelving manufactured by Emerson storage solution InSinkErator food waste disposers and Instant Hot Water dispensers add to the convenience in the three kitchen/ lounge areas Whirlpool appliances, which house Emerson motors and controls, complete the kitchen areas RIDGID stainless steel wet/dry vacuums help keep the office clean Inter metro stainless steel carts allow for easy transfer of goods within the building. The new location serves as Emerson s Canadian Headquarters and Markham campus, supporting five of Emerson s eight business platforms: Industrial Automation, Climate Technologies, Professional Tools, Appliance Solutions, and Motor Technologies. CANADA S HIGH-TECH CAPITAL Markham Mayor Hosts French Consul General In June 2009, Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti hosted a high profile business meeting with the Consul General of France, Monsieur Jérôme Cauchard, to promote France and Markham as a desired location for investment. MARKHAM PROFILE More than 50 key guests attended, including business leaders, representatives from local business associations and the academic community, and members of Markham Council. Wong In June 2009, Markham Councillors held a special ceremony to commemorate the incredible dedication, spirit and commitment of Regional Councillor Tony C. Wong, who passed away on June 17. Markham Council passed a unanimous motion recognizing the Regional Councillor's significant contributions and expressing the Town of Markham's sincere condolences to his family and friends. I worked side by side with Tony for over 12 years. I watched him mature as a politician, as a lawyer, and as a father but most importantly as a valued member of our community who gave freely of his time and heart, said Mayor Frank Scarpitti during the ceremony.
