A study was done to test the hypothesis that “People who go to weightwatchers eat more chocolate than people who have never gone to weightwatchers” PPs were divided into weightwatchers and non-weightwatchers and their consumption of chocolate in grams was measured over a 4 week period. The statistics were analysed using a Mann Whitney test The observed value was U= 76. There were 15 participants in each group. Using the table of critical values below answer the following: i) Do you accept or reject the null hypothesis? (1) ii) Explain the reasons for your answer (2) 6. Explain what is meant by p=<0.05 ?(2) 7. Outline one way the researcher could check the reliability of the study described above (2) 8.
