Some useful theorems in electrical engineering Dr. Ravi Panwar Ph.D(IIT Roorkee), PDF (KAIST, South Korea) Assistant Professor, Discipline of Electronics & Communication Engineering, IIITDM Jabalpur&Visiting Professor, Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST), South KoreaE-mail:rpanwar@iiitdmj.ac.in  Maximum power transfer theorem ã  There are two resistors (R S  and R L ), therefore, the voltage will be shared among these two. ã  R S - Resistor internal to the source/sourceresistance/internal resistance ã  R L - External resistance/ load resistance  When will the maximum power be delivered to RL?? Open circuit case Just release RL and keep terminals open without connecting anything Short circuit case Remove RL and connect it by a short R L = Infinite I=0 R L = 0 V=0  R L = InfiniteI=0R L = 0V=0 ã An open circuit correspondsto infinite resistance (R L =INFINITE) ã Since resistance is infinite, socurrent will be ZERO (i.e., I=0). ã Again P=I 2 R ã If I=0, so P=0 ã A closed circuit correspondsto zero resistance (R L = 0) ã Again P=I 2 R ã If R=0, so P=0ANDV=0
