  10 November 2014 To: Student Organizations / Fraternities / Sororities / Councils  Fellow student leaders: Warm nationalist greetings! November 17 is marked as the International Students Day—a day that commemorates and celebrates not  only the vigor of the students and the youth but the important role and responsibility of the students in society. In this light, the Rise for Education alliance, together with the University Student Council and the College of Arts and Sciences Student Council, will be spearheading a series of week-long events entitled  The Right Fight: Celebrating Activism, Continuing the Fight on November 10-14 and 17, 2014. The timeline is as follows: Nov. 10 (Monday) [Forum] I Know Rights: On Students’ Rights and Welfare and the Role of the  Youth in Advancing Genuine Social Change 1-4 PM at CAS Little Theater Nov. 12 (Wednesday) Film-Showing 1-4 PM at OSA Conference Room Nov. 13 (Thursday) Educational Discussion (ED) Fest 9-12 PM at GAB Lobby Nov. 13 (Thursday) [Forum in partnership with GABRIELA-Youth] Kalagayan ng Kabataang Kababaihan sa Krisis ng Edukasyon 1-4 PM at OSA Conference Room Nov. 14 (Friday) Cultural Night 6 PM, TBA November 17 (Monday) Solidarity Program and Parade 11:30 AM at RH Lobby In line with this, Rise 4 Education - UP Manila would like to invite your formation to participate in the aforesaid activities especially on the cultural night, one of the highlights of The Right Fight. Your formation may participate by presenting a performance—may it be a song, dance, poem, or prayer—and/or by delivering a message of solidarity for the cause.  Attached herewith is our concept paper for your perusal. Being the sector with lots of energy and fervor, the youth persists at the forefront in advancing the rights and welfare of the common people. November 17 is marked as the International Students Day—a day that commemorates and celebrates not  only the vigor of the students and the youth but the important role and responsibility of the students in society. In this light, the Rise for Education alliance, together with the University Student Council and the College of Arts and Sciences Student Council, will be spearheading a series of week-long events entitled  The Right Fight: Celebrating Activism, Continuing the Fight on November 10-14 and 17, 2014. What is the Right Fight? The Right Fight is a series of activities that aims to: ● Educate the youth regarding their historic role in nation-building advancing genuine social change ● Provide a history and analysis of the role of student councils, student unions, student publications and student organizations in the Philippines ● Promote the democratic rights and welfare of the youth and the Filipino people ● Involve students in the current affairs and concerns of the studentry, youth, and the Filipino people Activities 1. photo exhibit - This photo exhibit will showcase the content of the Students Rights Bill filed by Kabataan Partylist, the state of the Philippine education system, and the history of student movement in the Philippines. 2. I Know Rights - This forum will tackle the pressing issues concerning the youth on November 10. 3. film-showing - In partnership with Pinoy Media Center, a non-profit media organization, socially-relevant documentaries will be shown on November 12. 4. Kalagayan ng Kabataang Kababaihan sa Krisis ng Edukasyon - This forum will tackle the pressing issues concerning the Filipina youth on November 14. 5. cultural open mic night - Sing your heart out, read a poem aloud, or just say what you want to say. The cultural open mic night will forge unity, through the use of the arts, in continuing the legacy of the student movement on November 14. 6. solidarity program and parade - On the 17th of November, marked as the International Students' Day, an internationally coordinated festive solidarity march will take place, which will be made possible with the participation of students and youth all over the country. Calls UPHOLD STUDENTS’ RIGHTS AND WELFARE! NO TO TUITION HIKES! JUNK THE SOCIALIZED TUITION SYSTEM! NO TO RENTAL FEES! JUNK ALL OTHER SCHOOLS FEES! NO TO COMMERCIALIZATION OF EDUCATION! QUALITY AND ACCESSIBLE EDUCATION FOR ALL! FIGHT FOR A NATIONALIST, SCIENTIFIC, AND MASS-ORIENTED EDUCATION!
