She opened up her scoring account just 13 minutes into the 2014 campaign in the home win against Texas State. Holden then rifled the match-winner in the 86th minute of the 1-0 win over the Beavers. This is Holden s third C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honor. DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Angelica Jimenez, GK, UAB Jimenez was a star in the net for UAB in its opening day 2-1 overtime victory over South Alabama, making 12 saves. The junior goalie recorded three saves in the second overtime period to allow for the Blazers to clinch the game-winner with only 2.9 seconds remaining in the match. Jimenez s last stop of the game came less than a minute before UAB notched the winner. This marks the first time Jimenez has ever been named the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week. This week s Conference USA women s soccer slate features 13 teams, including matchups with 2013 NCAA Tournament squads and in-state rivals. Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss and UTEP all play in three fixtures this week. The Golden Eagles will take on Mississippi Valley State at 5 p.m. CT on Tuesday, completing their round of games with Magnolia State opponents Jackson State on Friday and Mississippi State on Sunday. The Lady Techsters host a midweek contest against Louisiana College at 7 p.m. CT on Tuesday before traveling to Charleston, Illinois, to participate in the Eastern Illinois Tournament against Lewis and the host. The Miners renew the FirstLight Federal Credit Union Battle of I-10 rivalry with New Mexico State on Wednesday, followed by the Fifth-Annual Border Bash against Incarnate Word on Friday and Houston Baptist on Sunday. Highlighting Friday s schedule is FIU s game at No. 15 Santa Clara and UTSA s trip to Big 12 school Kansas. The Broncos are coming off an Elite 8 appearance in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. The Jayhawks are off to a hot start offensively, netting six goals in a pair of opening-weekend victories. The Panthers close out the weekend on Sunday afternoon at Pacific. UAB heads to Durham, North Carolina, for a Sunday afternoon tilt against a Duke team that advanced to the Elite 8 in Sunday also boasts a pair of SEC match-ups as Rice plays at LSU at 6 p.m. CT and Middle Tennessee hosts Alabama at 7 p.m. CT. The Blazers, Blue Raiders and Owls all travel for Friday night contests. Charlotte, Florida Atlantic and North Texas hit the road for matches on Friday and Sunday. Goalkeeper Sydney Drinkwater, who transferred to the Owls from USF, kept her former team off the scoreboard with eight saves. Leading Scorer Off The Mark Forward Claire Emslie, who has led the Owls in goals the past two seasons, fired the game s only goal in the triumph in Tampa. Emslie launched her free-kick into the lower left corner of the goal from 40 yards out. She also assisted on a goal in the tie against Stetson. Offensive Duo Sophomore forward Kailee Hervey and junior midfielder Brittany Beddow led LA Tech with four and three points, respectively. Hervey notched her first goal against Central Arkansas, followed by the winner against Troy. Beddow scored and set-up another in the win over the Trojans. Second Half Response After being out-shot 4-0 in the first half, the Blue Raiders out-shot Belmont 5-4 in the second half. Key Shot-stopper Goalkeeper Kelsey Brouwer kept Belmont off the board in the first 90 minutes of the match with four saves, only to be beaten by a penalty in overtime. Brouwer now has 125 career saves.
