document is to assist customers who are planning the architecture of HP Device Manager (HPDM) components and configuring those components for the number of devices that will be managed. This document focuses on managing larger device deployments using HPDM. This document also includes tips to fine-tune the performance of HPDM. After the installation of HPDM, it can be divided into the following components: ã   HPDM Console ã   HPDM Server ã   Database (Here it means MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL is taken as an inner part of Server) ã   HPDM Gateway ã   Master Repository ã   Child Repository (not necessary) ã   HPDM Agent (pre-installed on device) Typical HPDM Topology The following diagrams show the topology of a typical HPDM deployment. For more information about common software port usage in HPDM, see the HP Device Manager Administrator Guide  . Make sure that the ports are not blocked by a firewall or hijacked by other processes. Deployment factors This section lists the main factors that might influence HPDM deployment, and also gives some deployment recommendations. The main factors are as follows: ã   Hardware enviroment ã   Network enviroment ã   Number of devices ã   HPDM logic 3  Hardware enviroment The following table provides the minimum hardware requirements of HPDM components. Table 1.   System requirements  HPDM component Operating system Suggested minimum hardware HPDM Console   ã   Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2 (64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2003 R2 with Service Pack 2 (32- and 64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2008 with Service Pack 2 (32-bit) ã   Windows Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2012 (64-bit) ã   Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3 (32-bit) ã   Windows 7 Enterprise with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) ã   Pentium® IV or greater ã   1 GB RAM ã   1 GB free disk space ã   100 Mbps NIC HPDM Server   ã   Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2 (64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2003 R2 with Service Pack 2 (32- and 64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2008 with Service Pack 2 (32-bit) ã   Windows Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2012 (64-bit) ã   Pentium IV or greater ã   1 GB RAM ã   2 GB free disk space ã   100 Mbps NIC Database (MS SQL Server)   ã   Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2 (64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2003 R2 with Service Pack 2 (32- and 64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2008 with Service Pack 2 (32-bit) ã   Windows Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2012 (64-bit) ã   Pentium IV or greater ã   2 GB RAM ã   2 GB free disk space ã   100 Mbps NIC HPDM Gateway   ã   Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2 (64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2003 R2 with Service Pack 2 (32- and 64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2008 with Service Pack 2 (32-bit) ã   Windows Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2012 (64-bit) ã   Pentium IV or greater ã   1 GB RAM ã   2 GB free disk space ã   100 Mbps NIC Master/Child Repository   ã   Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2 (64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2003 R2 with Service Pack 2 (32- and 64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2008 with Service Pack 2 (32-bit) ã   Windows Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) ã   Windows Server 2012 (64-bit) ã   Pentium IV or greater ã   1 GB RAM ã   2 GB free disk space ã   100 Mbps NIC 4
