Yet past attempts at findinga shaping process were unsuccessful. SUPERCOOLED LIQUID Schroers spent much of the past decade pursuing afundamentally different approach to preciselyshaping complex geometries. As a consequence, thermoplastic formingBMGs don’t require massive amounts of energy.From there, Schroers focused on producing BMGs insheets. That form, he reasoned, is the mostconducive to practical, manufacturing applications.“Developing a fabrication method for BMG sheets hasbeen extremely difficult because it requires afundamentally different process,” Schroers says. “Wesucceeded recently, with a surprisingly versatileprocess that is fast, precise, and economical.”  ARRAY OF SHAPES Schroers’ method produces sheets that can be usedin standard manufacturing operations and blow-molded into an array of shapes.
