Class Attendance Winner   06/10/14 -  10/10/14 100% Year 1 Regular attendance at school is essential to your child ’ s educational success. Come along to our Curriculum Evening!   We are having a Curriculum Evening on Tuesday 21st October 2014 from 3.15pm -  4.15pm. It is an opportunity for our children to share their learning   with friends and family.   Monday 20th October -  Wednesday 22nd October 3.20 -  3.45pm   Food Poem Competition Winners   Congratulations to Justine in Year 5 and Rohaan and Tamara in Year 2 who have won our food poem competition. All winners received a Scholastic Book Fair Voucher.   GENTLE REMINDER …. After half term if your Par-ent Pay balance is not in credit your child will be given a basic emergency meal costing 65p. Your child will be allowed one emergency meal. After this time if the account is still not in credit parents will need to provide alternate arrangements of either a packed lunch or home dinner. After the half term break all trips and clubs will al-so be on Parent Pay. The office will no longer take cash payments.   KS2 will be going to the Films   We have a wonderful op-portunity to take a large group of children to watch a free film which is linked to our anti - bullying policy/PSCHE curriculum.   The films will be showing at the beginning of November.   As there are limited places available, the fairest way of doing this is to select those children who have stayed on green this half - term and place their names in a 'hat' to see who will be lucky enough to be picked out of the 'hat.'   Parents/ carers will be informed next week if their child is one of the 'lucky ones' to at-tend.   Pupils will contribute their feedback in an as-sembly.   In   Literacy,   we have been focusing on Performance Poetry linked to Black His-tory.   All our pupils have performed their poems superbly throughout 'Speak Week' and should be congratulated for learning their lines, projecting their voices and developing their confidence. Well done.      We are pleased to announce that we will be having our annual Fireworks Display on:   When: Tuesday 4th November 2014 at 5.00pm .   Doors open: 4.30 pm with refreshments on sale.   Entry Cost: £1.00 per person and £4.00 for families of four or more people.   Children under two can attend free of charge. Children must be accompanied by their parent/carer or a responsible adult aged 18 or over.   Everyone  is welcome so do try to come along. Please en-sure that your family stay safe during this time of year and follow the safety code.   The Fireworks Code   ã Only buy fireworks marked BS 7114.   ã Don ’ t drink alcohol if setting off fireworks.   ã Keep fireworks in a closed box.   ã Follow the instructions on each firework.   ã Light them at arm ’ s length, using a taper.   ã Stand well back.   ã Never go near a firework that has been lit. Even if it   hasn ’ t gone off, it could still explode.   ã Never put fireworks in your pocket or throw them.   ã Always supervise children around fireworks.   ã Light sparklers one at a time and wear gloves.   ã Never give sparklers to a child under five.   ã Keep pets indoors.   ã Don ’ t set off noisy fireworks late at night and never after 11pm.    For 2015 Intake    An opportunity to nd out more informaon    A presentaon by the Early Years Manage  A guided tour of the school   Next week we pupils will visit each class collecting for the British Legion Poppy Appeal. It is very important that you take the time to read it. Open days for Secondary Schools can be found on page 5 and it is advisable that you attend the open days and gather as much information as possible. You can also take a look at the school websites, read their prospectus and check out Ofsted reports at www.ofsted.gov.uk or on the school website.   Please ensure that you complete your application form online. The assembly will be led by Reverend Lesley Goldsmith.   As part of the harvest assembly we shall be donating food to a local food bank. A small donation of tinned and/or packaged food would be greatly welcomed. The photographer will be in school all morning taking in-dividual and family group photographs. Please can you ensure that your children go to bed at an appropriate bed time. Saturday school begins again this week ( 20th September). If you have been chosen to aend, please remember that school starts at 10.00 am and nishes at 3.00 pm. Children are expected to aend every week. There are aendance awards at the end of each term.   We look forward to another successful year.
