In association with Building a Dream Boeing’s Game Changer From the Cockpit Flying the Dreamliner ã  CONCEPT   ã  INNOVATION  ã  OPERATION Engines Training Passenger Experience     U    K          £         5  .         9         9 Dreamliner      Boeing 787   T  his year is a milestone year for both The Boeing Company and the 787 Dreamliner. The company is celebrating 100 years of innovation in aerospace, and it was five years ago in September that we delivered the first 787-8 to All Nippon Airways (ANA). Both anniversaries mark the beginning of something spectacular – a company that continues to change the world and an aeroplane that is changing the flying experience. The 787 is the culmination of a century of vision, creativity and innovation. The industry leading technology of the Dreamliner is creating remarkable opportunities for airlines around the world and dramatically improving the air travel experience. With unparalleled fuel efficiency and range flexibility, more than 35 Dreamliner customers have already opened new routes. Only the 787 could enable our airline customers to first imagine and then implement a non-stop flight from London to Austin, Texas and from San Francisco to Tel Aviv. And these are just two examples – more than 90 other new non-stop routes are being served or will be soon, thanks to the aircraft’s unique capabilities. Since it first entered service five years ago, the 787 has flown more than 86 million passengers to destinations around the world; in the process, has saved nearly six billion pounds of fuel based on the airplanes it replaces and flown more than one billion revenue miles. And we’re just getting started. We begin assembly on the newest member of the Dreamliner family this year. The 787-10, which will undergo final assembly at Boeing’s site in North Charleston, South Carolina, will set a new benchmark in efficiency when deliveries begin in 2018. With a range capability covering more than 90% of the world’s twin-aisle routes, the -10 will deliver 25 percent better fuel use and lower emissions than the airplanes it will replace. For passengers, the Dreamliner offers an experience like none other, with more comfort and less fatigue thanks to a lower cabin altitude, bigger windows, bigger stowage bins, cleaner air and higher humidity. We call it the Dreamliner effect. With it, airlines can reinvent fleets and transform business plans. For passengers, it’s just a better way to fly.
