CRITICAL READING RESPONSES “Using Facebook in EFL Writing Class : Its Effectiveness From Students’ Perspective ”    By: Dimas Agung Suwardi (PBI-1/0304163192) INTRODUCTION My goal in choosing the title of this article is to review whether social media like Facebook is effective in increasing students' writing skills in using English.   (Harry & Thomas, 2019) said that social media can be used by language learners to improve and explore new relationships rather than implementing existing relationships, helping learners improve their understanding skills better every day, because humans today are not immune to social media involved in the formation and maintenance of online communities. .  Not infrequently I also encounter on the homepage about motivational writing or love-related writing written by students using English, I also often encounter inaccurate sentences, misplaced sentences, incorrect writing or typo.   (Roblyer, 2010) said Facebook is one of the newest examples of communication technology that is freely accessed by anyone including students to learn English or learn to write English, therefore Facebook has the potential as a source of learning English that is quite effective in the world of education.  SUMMARY MALL approach from Mobile-Assisted Language Learning is language learning that uses the help of a mobile phone or Smartphone. MALL aims to make learning using cellular phones improve students' English especially in the field of language. MALL is also useful to replace learning that requires students to come to class, because by using MALL students can conduct learning anywhere using a mobile phone. The application that can easily be found and helps students in learning English is social media. Social media as we know it, there are various kinds of content in it such as making videos, newspapers, bloggers. The application most often used by the public, especially students today such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, and Whatsapp. According to CNBC Indonesia, Jakarta, Facebook has become the most popular social media in the world. Statistics show the number of active users in the first quarter - 2019 reached 2.38 billion. Indonesia ranks 4th with 120 million active Facebook users outperforming Mexico with 79 million active Facebook users placing Mexico 5th in July 2019. Articles Using Facebook In EFL in Writing Class uses qualitative methods to collect data so as to get conclusions from data and facts found related to the article title. In the industrial era 4.0, teachers are required to understand technology more than students know because it will motivate students to learn by using social media or other electronic media. Because as expressed by Hennessy, Ruthven, & Brindley, 2005 in this article said that students already know more about the lesson before learning it in class. The teacher must recognize this as a change in using learning methods. The teacher must also support students to use electronic media as learning media in the classroom  CRITIQUE I agree with the opinions of some people who say that social media like Facebook can improve students' English writing skills, because in the digital era like now students tend to give sentences to their own photos using English, who knows what their purpose is in using English. , but unconsciously they have honed their writing skills in English. In this article, there are many abbreviations which confuse the reader even though it has been explained before about the abbreviations, such as CALL, MALL, LTL, EFL, SNS. The article writer uses enough references to convince the reader of his writing. The author of this article also presents data from the  previous to the updated one so as to facilitate the reader in analyzing the increase or decrease of Facebook users in Indonesia from 2018 to 2019. According to Barli Bram (2002) in principle, to write means to try to produce or reproduce writen messages. Barli Bram defines writing as an attempt to make or re-write an existing article. As the article takes data on Facebook users in Indonesia in 2018, totaling to 32.7 million users from 50% of the total Indonesian population. Whereas in 2019 last January, Facebook users in Indonesia increased from 32.7 million users to 130 million active users. Of course readers when reading an article will be more interested in updated data. CONCLUSION In closing, the author strongly recommends this article to be read by students who want to know the development of social media in Indonesia, especially Facebook and to find out whether Facebook is effective or not to be used as a learning medium to improve writing skills. The author has not been able to criticize this article any further because the writer still does not have enough knowledge to criticize deeply.  REFERENCES Harrison, R., & Thomas, M. (2009).
