   Dear colleagues and friends, weareexcitedtoreleaseanewversionoftheDatabaseofByzantineBookEpigrams(DBBE, hosted at Ghent University), freely accessible at https://www.dbbe.ugent.be   . ThankstothegeneroussupportoftheSpecialResearchFundofGhentUniversity,DBBEhas   beencompletelyredesignedoverthepasttwoyears,inclosecollaborationwiththe   Database, DocumentandContentManagementresearchgroupofthe   FacultyofEngineeringofGhent University and with the Ghent Centre for Digital Humanities. ThecorpusofByzantinemetricalparatextscollectedinourDatabasehasbeenconsistently enlarged,throughthesystematicconsultationofmanuscriptsandrelevantsecondary literature,anditnowcountssome10700singleepigrams,over7000ofwhicharetheresult offirst-handinspectionof(repr oductionsof)manuscripts.Incomparisonwiththeprevious  versionofDBBE,ourusersareofferedthepossibilitytonavigatemoreeasilythroughthe differentrecords,whicharemuchbetterlinkedtoeachother.ThesearchfunctionofGreek  text has been refined and provides users with more accurate results. Whilethedistinctionbetween   Occurrences   (uniqueepigramsastobefoundinmanuscripts) and   Types(normalisedtextsofsimilaroccurrences)hasbeenretained,anewwaytogroup epigramshasbeenintroduced:theVerseVariantsrecords.Thesepagesdisplayaclear  overviewoftheparallelsanddeviationsofsingleverselines.TheVerseVariantsare accessible by clicking on single epigram verse lines. ThemainscopeofDBBEiscollectingByzantinebookepigramsandofferingtheirtextsto thescholarlycommunity.However,weareaimingtomakeavailablecontextualdataaswell, andhavepaidmajorattentiontotheimprovementofinformationon   Manuscriptand   Persons. The Bibliography   section has been adjusted and it now includes a search path. We gladly refer to our Help page   and Search Tricks and Tips page for more information.
