Theprogram, called I Can Pretend, was developed a fewyears ago in Winnipeg by a theatre educator who is alsothe mother of a son with autism. The program hasproved to be a huge success there and we are privilegedto be the sole provider of these classes in the Edmontonarea. See page 6 for details.  More exciting news: due to popular demand, we areoffering an Acting for the Camera class for adultson Monday evenings beginning September 15. See page 5 for details.  Don’t forget that our courses are tax deductible forchildren under 15. You may be able claim to amaximum of $500 per child the fees paid relatingto the cost of registration or membership of yourchild in a prescribed program of artistic, cultural,recreational, or developmental activity.  If you are a member of the Citadel CorporateBenefits Program, you’re entitled to a 15% discount offthe price of classes for you, your spouse or children.  All donations to the Foote Theatre School, unlessotherwise stated, go towards our scholarshipprogram so that everyone has access to artseducation, regardless of economic situation. Students will haveregular opportunities to spend time in front of the camera toincrease their comfort level as we apply ourselves to monologues,scenes, commercials, etc. and learn the specifics of film acting inits various genres and how it differs from the stage. Offered in the Fall Term only!  MONDAYS: 6:30 – 9:30pm FALL : Sept 15 – Nov 10/14 $260  / TERM + GST SOLO CREATION/PERFORMANCE (CODE: F28) INSTRUCTOR : Jon Lachlan StewartTaught by the award-winning playwright/director/actor/producerand co-founder of Surreal SoReal Theatre, Jon Lachlan Stewart.Students will work on writing for one actor, editing skills, using thebody and voice to create multiple characters and anddeconstruction of plot in solo storytelling. Work toward creatingand performing your own solo piece. Great for aspiring play-wrights in addition to actors and other performers. First term is anintroduction to theatre games, basic script analysis, physical andvocal techniques, and improvisation. In the Winter Term, you willapply this work to scenes which will be presented for an invitedaudience in one of the Citadel’s performance spaces. Students will hone their scene studyskills and have an opportunity to share their work at the conclusionof the Winter Term with a performance in one of the Citadel’sperformance spaces. The Winter Term culminates with aperformance in one of the Citadel’s theatre spaces.  ADULT ADVANCED ACTING ENSEMBLE (CODE: F04) INSTRUCTOR : Liana Shannon PRE-REQUISITE: Scene Study or equivalentThis full-year course is an advanced acting class where studentswill be challenged to enhance acting technique through work oncharacter development, script analysis, ensemble building andother skills. The class will culminate in the performance of a shortplay to be presented at the conclusion of the Winter Term in one of the Citadel’s theatre spaces. This course must be taken for the full year. The Winter Term culminates with aperformance in class.  AGES 5-8 SATURDAYS: 9:00 – 9:45am $225/  TERM  AGES 9-12 SATURDAYS: 10:00 – 10:45am $225/  TERM  AGES 4-5 SATURDAYS: 11:00 – 12:00pm FALL : Sept 13 –Nov 29/14  WINTER : Jan 10 – Mar 21/15 PERFORMANCE INCLASS: March 21/15 $195/  TERM or  45  / YEAR DRAMA FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM I CAN PRETEND!  teaches children with autism how toplay with peers and form relationships, something thatchildren with ASD typically struggle with. Through drama,younger children learn imaginative play skills and olderchildren hone social skills. It is a program that is based on research supporting how children with autism learn.Created by a seasoned drama educator and parent of a child on the autism spectrum, andfirst piloted at Manitoba Theatre for Young People as part of a graduate study, our programuses best practice teaching for children with autism including picture schedules, familiarroutines, repetition and reward. Children currently enrolled in an intensive intervention program such as ABA, RDI orDIR/Floortime will benefit most from this program.  Ages 4-5 Ages 8-9 Ages 6-7 Parents interested in enrolling a child in this program should contact Doug Mertz,Director of FTS, directly for an I CAN PRETENDregistration form. *
