CALL FOR PAPERS UGC SPONSORED NATIONAL SEMINAR Title  –   Science and Technology in Ancient India Organised by Lalbaba College, Belur, Howrah In Collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belrmath, Howrah 18 th  & 19 th  November, 2014 Venue: Sarat Chandra Sabhagriha, Lalbaba College, Belur, Howrah The glorious past of India convinces that it must have earned and esteemed, elevated position in the world, in culture and civilization with its rich knowledge of science and development of literature highlighted by the fact that Vedic Literature is the oldest-known to mankind. It was so  brilliant and advanced that it left an impact on other contemporary civilizations. From studies it is evident that a scientific temperament was existent in our ancestors. They had sound and accurate knowledge not only in the fields of metaphysics and dharma but also applied sciences such as astronomy, mathematics, metallurgy, architecture, medical-science etc. It is very much astonishing that our ancestors were directed by scientific intuitive inside and science methodology. But, ironically the scientists do not know the Sanskrit language and literature, and Sanskrit scholars do not know about the Modern scientific and technological advancements. There is a need to bridge this chasm by spreading the knowledge of scientific heritage of India one and all. Further, there is need for studying scriptures, Epics and other Ancient Literature in Sanskrit as well as other regional languages to unearth the wealth of knowledge of our ancestors. Moreover, the application of science and technology is very much contemporary from the Ancient age to Modern age. Sanskrit is the connecting link between the two periods which build up a new era.
