Name : Misbah Hayati Siregar Class : PBI-1/7th Semester NIM : 0304162131 USING FACEBOOK IN EFL WRITING CLASS : ITS EFFECTIVENESS FROM STUDENTS’ PERSPECTIVE  By: Rahma Fithriani, Utami Dewi, Solihatul Hamidah Daulay, Maryati Salmiah and Widya Fransiska Critical Readiang Response Essay Introduction Online learning is defined as a model of instruction that integrates the use of computer technology to enhance and support teaching, learning and assessment in an actual classroom (Balcikanli, 2009). The advancement of technology development has impacted every aspects of humans’ lives, including personal, social, and professional ones. For language teachers, this advancement has directly affected their teaching practices through its integration into their conventional teaching syllabus and material. This integration of technology in LTL is inevitable since today’s learners have different way of learning if compared   to their teachers’ in the past (Fithriani,2019). I agree with what the writer says, Because there can be no doubt, that technological advances have a lot of influence on human life, now students are very easy to get information in the presence of technology, in contrast to antiquity where information is only obtained from teachers. Writer says “ Teachers should also realize that technology has changed the methods of learning, from the teacher-centered to be learner-centered. Thus,as the facilitators for students’  learning, teachers should support students in gathering information and using the technology wisely for practicing their language beyond the classroom, for example; through Mobile devices ” . Iam in the same opinion with this statements, As a teacher who acts as a facilitator, students will be able to gain a real learning experience. By facilitating learning, the teacher invites and brings all students in the class to participate. What is required of a teacher in this era is mastery of IT, which will make students feel fun while learning. Not just use speech method from beginning to end of learning. Salah satu  metode pembelajaran yang dapat membuat pembelajaran lebih menyenangkan yaitu dengan menggunakan FB. Facebook is a very popular social media Web site where people can share information and photos. Amazingly, there are about two billion active users worldwide (Statista, 2017). It's just that not all regions have a good network system. Summary Technology that is developing rapidly nowadays, helps many aspects in our lives, including in education. One of the most popular technologies is social media, which everyone already has, including in Indonesia itself. The most widely used social media right now is Facebook. Indonesia is the fourth country which occupies the position of the most users from all over the world with users estimated at around 130 million. This can be used by a teacher,  because teachers must also be able to master technology so as not to lose out to their students. Facebook can be used to improve students' writing skills in EFL classes, this is an effective method that makes students feel bored and more fun in learning. As a research by Rahma Fithriani, Utami Dewi, Solihatul Hamidah Daulay, Maryati Salmiah and Widya Fransiska (2019) it is said that by using Facebook in learning to write in the EFL learning process gives good results namely students are more confident, encouraging students to participate  participate in writing and can improve their writing skills. Critique As one of the users of FB, there are so many benefits felt by its users. Including me who is also a FB user. The article entitled “ using Facebook in EFL writing class: its effectiveness from students ’  perspective written by Rahma Fithriani, Utami Dewi, Solihatul Hamidah Daulay, Maryati Salmiah and Widya Fransiska discusses whether Facebook as the most popular social media in Indonesia researching will be a learning tool which is effective for EFL students who take writing classes. This article was written with many theories that underlie the authors, before further research, the authors have studied previous research such as research by Nurhidayati (2014), Susanti (2013) and Rodliyah (2016) whose research results are positive that Facebook can improve writing skills student. The use of Facebook in the classroom was explored resulting in a number of positive indicators. It enhanced developing students‟ independent learning, motivation, English language competency,  cultural understanding, student engagement with the course content, real-life and realistic experience, and personal relationship (Esteves, 2012; Hurt, Moss, Bradley, Larson, Lovelace & Prevost, 2012; Shih, 2013; Hamada, 2013; Razak & Saeed, 2015). As a reader I feel fortunate to have used FB for a long time, not only as an entertainer but can be used to increase knowledge also very useful for me as a teacher candidate. In the research method the author has also written the stages or procedures for collecting data in detail, with graphs that make the reader better understand. The references used in this article are also very updated. As a reader I feel fortunate to have used FB for a long time, not only as an entertainer but can be used to increase knowledge. This article is taken from the perspective of students who use FB, and its usefulness in the EFL Writing Class. The main points in this article are FB and Writing Skill, but the theories regarding these two points are still lacking, more explaining about MALL (Mobile-Assisted Language Learning) which actually relates to FB in general. On page 637 I found the abbreviation “ TILL ”  which I did not understand what was TILL. FB has many good effects for students, such as boosting their confidence in using the language, encouraging their participation in class activities, and helping improve their fluency in English writing. Including me as a user who felt the effects of FB that made me able to add knowledge including writing by joining me in writing groups at FB. But it is very unfortunate here is less explained about what are the challenges using fb in EFL writing class and how the solution. And not explained how to the right way to learn to write on FB. In Joe Laurer (2017), there are five basic pedagogical approaches are popular: 1) Teachers ask questions or pose weekly topics, and then students respond; 2) Students post essays and classmates respond; 3) Students read something, then answer questions; 4) Students post photos or videos, describing them; and 5) Students focus on grammar and vocabulary issues. In conclusion, I also did not find recommendations for other researchers if you want to examine the same thing. Conclusion Facebook is a SNS that boasts more than 1 billion monthly active users, and it is one of the fastest-growing and best- known sites on the Internet today (“Most famous social network sites,” 2016). Established by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004, Facebook is a powerf  ul learning tool that is not only built off of synchronous and asynchronous technologies that has  transformed learning but also extended the reach of communicative tools (Blattner & Fiori, 2009). Facebook is one of the social media which is not far from lives of children now, therefore it will be easier to use it as a learning medium, and from the research that has been done, Facebook can be seen as having a positive effect on students as they are more confident in writing , encourage their participation in class activities and can improve their writing skills, effective learning media is a key so that students do not feel bored and feel happy while learning. It ’ s just that in using this Facebook media, it is expected that teachers as  parents of students in schools can control the use of this Facebook to be used according to learning needs.
