AbstractThe present study was aimed at investigating the ways students produce technical artifactssupposed to be a requirement of the course Introductory Electrical Engineering, which usesa methodology of projects, Projects Based Learning  – PBL, at Centro Federal de EducaçãoTecnológica of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Research practices, links among thestudents and with groups out the laboratory of projects (LACTEA) were observed. Wehypothesized whether the approach to learning-teaching process through a methodology of research would enable the formation of a socio-technical network, creating learningopportunities of processes for constructing scientific and technological conceptions. In thiscontext, we used the Theory of Activity, which takes the learning-teaching process as ahistorical and social activity, and the Actor-Network Theory, which considers theconstruction of the scientific process based on the configuration of a socio-technicalnetwork. The following techniques for collecting data were used: documental analysis, observational analysis of lectures, workshops, laboratories and the college facilities.Simultaneously, the documental analyses were carried out based on a critical analysis of theinstitution laws and rules, documents provided by the institution under investigation, blogreports produced the students, teaching units provided by the professors of theundergraduation course in Electrical Engineering and further documents released by theinstitution. Our results suggested that the learning-teaching process developed throughPBL, regarded as an instructional practice, is part of a system of activities with commonfeatures similar to the Socio-Technical network.
