But, English language is as a foreign language in Indonesia while it is needed in this modern era. We can not avoid that in every sides of this world need to use English language. Moreover, every level of education in Indonesia taught English especially in senior high school and university. According to Henry Sweet in Sholihatul (2017) language is the expression of ideas by means of speech  –   sound combine into words. Words are combined into sentence. This combination is answering to that of ideas into thoughts. In developing to be an international, language has important role. Although English language is a foreign language in our country. As a language teacher, in this modern era, many students in Indonesia precisely lost interest for learn about other languages especially English language. It will be a harmful phenomenon while English is an international language that we should know to be more success and there are many  benefits for our country, Indonesia. In this case, the teachers’ role and quality are must to considered in learning and teaching process. The acquirements have an efficient role on all his decisions during the lifetime. The meaning of learning, the processes through which it occurs, the factors affecting it in negative and positive ways are among primary questions to be answered for those scientists studying in the field. Solving the mysteries of all these questions may result in using the sources in the right way as well as contributing to the discovery of expected results. In learning and teaching process, the teacher and the students have to know what their own roles. The methodology of teaching has their own part which one the students’ roles and which one the teachers’ roles. The work of teaching is simultaneously mental and social. It is also physical, emotional, practical, behavioral, political, experiential, historical, cultural, spiritual, and personal. In other hand, teacher as the role model in the class have to understand what they have to do at the class by using the teaching methods effectively and make a good atmosphere in teaching English.  Critical  –   thinking and problem  –   solving methods are refer to the ability to use knowledge, facts, and data to effectively solve problems. This doesn’t mean the students need to have an immediate answer, it means they have to be able to think on their feet, assess problems and find solutions. The ability to develop a well thought out solution within a reasonable time frame, however, is a skill that students value greatly. The activities in this section focus on learning how to solve problems in a variety of ways in learning and teaching process.. the students will hear about how to properly tell the difference among criticism, praise, and feedback and reacting appropriately. The section will also review strategies for making ethical decisions, solving problems on a team with others, and learning how to take into account others’ perceptions when assessing actions or statements in the workplace.   This study discussed about teaching English reading to EFL students in Indonesia by using Critical  –   Thinking and Problem  –   Solving method. This study has done by investigating some literature that explained the method implementation in teaching English reading in EFL class. It also investigated the strength and the weakness of the method in its implementation. This study aimed to know the effective method in teaching English reading to EFL students and how it works in learning and teaching process. Thus, this study aimed to investigate whether the method works or not. The result of this study is those methods are effective in teaching English especially in teaching English reading. Problem  –   solving and critical  –   thinking methods such as the new one efficient and effective way in teaching and learning English as foreign language. In other word, can make the students more active in the learning and teaching process. In the fact, English language especially in the countries where English is not their second language, is very hard to learn. In terms the lack of the students’ interest in  learning English make them hard to master it. That is why the using of the interesting strategy and method are very important in teaching, and the teachers have to know what strategy they should apply in their class. Learning fully and useful means that students can think about what they are learning, applying it in a tangible way the situation or towards further learning, and can continue to study independently (Gardner 1993 in Crawford 2005). Learning that can be used, learning that survives is a far better investment teacher time and community funding rather than learning  which makes students passive, which exhausts students the teacher with his routine, and it was soon forgotten because it wasn't practiced or built on. According to Halpern, 1996 in Crawford 2015, the most successful classrooms are those that encourage students to think for themselves and engage in critical thinking, while Hamra & Syatriana stated that It may be quite complicated and very challenging to find a formula that applies to make teaching and learning activities more interesting and productive. Those statements are contrary in the context of teaching and learning that is why this study have found the new one strategies approach in teaching and learning English especially in teaching English reading. In the other hand, critical thinking and problem solving methods are effective enough to apply in the learning process. There are some studies said that the applying of critical thinking and problem solving methods are effective and efficient because it involves the students directly to solve the problem and think critically. The findings indicated that using critical thinking and problem solving strategies help students to identify, clarify, evaluate, infer, and solve perplexities that arise in reading. The effectiveness of those methods are not only in teaching English reading, but also in writing. The effectiveness of those methods are not only in teaching English reading, but also in writing. Those approaches emphasize language learning and knowledge construction through collaborative group problem solving and critical thinking activities. Besides that, this implementation is not only can be used effectively for encourage the students’ ability in reading, but also can make the teacher easier to handle the class ant involve directly with the students. Therefore, the using of critical thinking and problem solving learning approaches and methods can be expected to stimulate students’ thinking critically and solve the problem.  After read and review this study and some previous study, it can be concluded that the implementation of Critical  –   Thinking and Problem  –   Solving method are effective in teaching English reading to ELF students, because those methods can be involved the students and the teacher in a good interaction. Besides that, those methods can be enlarged the students’ reading ability through think critically and try to solve the problem that given by the teacher and this study is very useful as a reference of the teaching and learning method that can be applied in teaching and learning process.  References Alan Crawford, E.
