Who Should Pray? A. Prayer is a privilege Jesus did not say, if you pray, but when you pray B. Know that God hears us The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. Psalms 34:15 (NKJV) C. Stay Consistent Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; Col 4:2 (NKJV) D. We all need prayer now more than ever But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. 1 Peter 4:7 (NKJV) 2. How shall we pray? A. When should we pray? A. Seek God during the hard times Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: Heb 12:14 (NKJV) t And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 4 So Judah gathered together to ask help from the Lord; and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord. 2 Chron 20:3-4 (NKJV) B. Praise God in the good times in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thess 5:18 (NKJV) C. Focus on God at all times I will extol You, my God, O King; And I will bless Your name forever and ever. 2 Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever. Pray in private But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. Pray with others Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them. God cares about what we are facing Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, Eph 3:20 (NKJV) B. We can take small needs to God And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive. Accept Gods invitation Do you need healing? Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. Jer 29:11-13 (NKJV) Do you need help with relationships? The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all. Psalms 34:17-19 (NKJV) 6. How should we pray? A. Go to God in humility B. Pray with confidence and faith Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us 1 John 5:14 (NKJV) C. Be persistent Romans 12:12 Be steadfast in prayer. D. Pray with power But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
