33 Justin S. Noble 2APH Prayer is the best and probably the only way in which we can talk to God with all our hearts. Many of us made it a habit to pray every night and every morning to thank our creator for the wonderful day we had and the days up ahead. Praying has been a norm al part of most of people’s lives. It has become a routine. It may be a little off and somehow improper but I just cannot help but ask: have we really been praying? Have we really been communicating with God? One of the most significant lessons I’ve lear ned from the recollection is the true nature and purpose of prayer. It is a fact that most of our parents tried their very best to have their children develop the habit of praying and it is something we should be happy about. However, once praying has become a second nature, a habit, a part of a routine, we might forget what praying really means and what it is all about. Habits are actions done repeatedly that in time; they are done even without our consciousness fully working on it. The same might happen to praying. We might pray out of habit without putting our hearts and minds in doing it. When this happens, we are not anymore praying but just people uttering something in the air. People should always remember that praying is a communication between man and God. We should always put our hearts and soul; pour efforts when speaking to our creator. Praying is not mere wishing or asking for forgiveness. It is a bond — a bond that connects man to God. Praying will lead us to salvation. It is a symbol of faith. It is a symbol that we humans, despite not seeing God, still believe in him and the life with him.  33 Justin S. Noble 2APH It has been a worthwhile experience to be a part of such an enlightening recollection. Aside from the usual feeling I felt after being able to confess, it has been really fulfilling to be able to learn something of significance that day. Through the event, I have been aware of the true meaning and importance of prayer in expression of our faith. It is never enough to just speak inside of your head while saying the name of our lord. It is never enough to just confess and wish before going to bed or to say our thanks every morning when we wake up. What matters is that our heart, mind, and soul are open and offered at that moment for God and for God alone. Prayer is never limited to those. In our prayers, we can talk to God about our life, about school, about our problems, and about anything else. God may not respond but as long as our faith and conviction is strong when praying, it will definitely reach God.
